Favorite Blogs/Sites/Forums (Jan 2025)

Category: Web, HTML, Tech

I love going through people's favorite links, and as someone who frequently gets obsessed with things and then drops them, I think a monthly-ish round up sounds like a great idea! I'd love to include some bloggers/profiles from here as well, I'll most likely wait a month or two to make sure I have a good amount to choose from (with their permission, of course.). My first website, do you have one? + some resources

Category: Web, HTML, Tech

After way, way too long, I finally have my own website! If you want, you can look at it here: Digital Vulture . I honestly took way too long to bite the bullet on this, I had gotten way too deep into a rabbithole of webhosting and domains and yaddayadda that I just, couldn't start. So, while stoned, I decided to just pick one and make a website. I landed on Neocities because there is a lot of supp... » Continue Reading

Thoughts on Machine Girl's newest album?

Category: Music

It's the first album I've bought on CD in many many years, and honestly so worth it. I've been very happy to listen to most Machine Girl songs, and this album is definitely still in the usual 'range', at least as of the album before. I really enjoy the sort of gritty retro feel, both in the album art and in the songs. My favorites were 'Come On Baby, Scrape My Date', 'Ignore The Vore', and 'Dread ... » Continue Reading

Retail Reflection

Category: Jobs, Work, Careers

Today marks the official last day of my seasonal retail halloween job, and even though I still have about a week to tear the store down, I wanted to talk a bit about all the things I love and hate about this job. To be clear, this is my 3rd year working here and my first as an assistant manager. (Ew, I know, I'm the 'man' now) I am super lucky to have gotten this job in the first place, even if it... » Continue Reading

Re-Entry

Category: Blogging

It's way too easy to slip back in to old habits huh. But, here I am, high as shit, listening to a video about hacking. Most of my time is spent at work or playing video games, mostly Stardew Valley or Postal Redux. I'm pretty proud of being an assistant manager at the halloween store, but I am super aware that that is kinda not a big deal. I mostly enjoy having more duties and more money hehehe. I... » Continue Reading

The gender struggle of a (supposedly) cis woman

Category: Religion and Philosophy

What does it mean that I'm a woman? Not to say I claim that identity, but for all intents and purposes, that is the way the world acknowledges me and therefore how I live. Does it mean that I am feminine? No, but even if it did, even if I was an extremely feminine person, would that be as a consequence of being assigned 'woman'? How can you tell the difference between a socially accepted construct... » Continue Reading

An Adventure with Tortillas!

Category: Food and Restaurants

I have never enjoyed cooking, like, at all. My sister was the one who always helped and asked our mom questions. I was just happy to graze on snacks all day and bury my nose in a book. Funny thing about being an adult though... Some skills you missed out on are now necessary. I actually thought tortillas would be pretty difficult at first but I ended up choosing a couple videos to follow, which I ... » Continue Reading

ghosted

Category: Blogging

Oops. Well, I didn't intentionally ditch this side of the web! My hard drive failed so I lost everything I had on it :/ Upside is that I upgraded to a SSD! Bad news is my laptop will be too old for the programs I need by the end of the year. Pros and cons, pros and cons. I have a lot I want to talk about, so I'm sure I'll be posting a lot here soon, including getting active again on my fave forums... » Continue Reading

My space on the indie web is my own to shape

Category: Blogging

It's strange how much pressure I unknowingly put on myself. I've written before about my feelings on the personal web, particularly about how freeing it felt to create for creativity's sake. Unfortunately, I'm still unlearning habits from the corp side of the web. I started putting pressure on myself to write something good, or helpful, or unique. I let my anxieties creep back in about talking to ... » Continue Reading

Beans, radio stations, and social media

Category: Blogging

There's this very pretty Nina Simone song playing on the radio, not that I would know the name. Jazz has always been more my boyfriend's thing, much like Ozzy Osbourne, owls, retro video games, technology, and beans. Yes, we eat enough beans that I feel it deserves mention. We have far too many blankets piled on the couch, but I'm certainly not willing to give any up. It's a good night. Earlier, w... » Continue Reading

I never graduated community college

Category: Life

I was in community college for journalism for about a year and a half, during which I took as many art classes as humanly possible. I wasn't particularly *good*, but I always liked expressing myself creatively. Which is why, when my art teacher (professor?) gave us an assignment to do a family portrait, and immediately I had the perfect idea. You know that painting, the one with [the man holding t... » Continue Reading

Blogging has changed how I feel about my work.

Category: Jobs, Work, Careers

(I am an adult content creator; this started as a small rant to friends but grew by itself until I felt the need to put it here!) I want to reiterate that I really do enjoy my work. It's responsible for almost everything I have in life, why I'm not homeless or stuck in a relationship that isn't good for anyone. It's why I have food and water and a safe place to rest my head at night. But I was def... » Continue Reading
