I'm not sure why but I'm definitely getting a bigger interest in old school platforms, retro tech, digital minimalism, and decentralizing the web. For example, my profile here! But I'm going to be slowly turning my phone stupider (lol), moving to physical media when able, and staying as far away from profit-motivated sites.
I do have to stay online to a large degree to my job (independent xxx work), but it's a comparatively small portion of my overall online presence. Any social media I feel I NEED I'll be deleting from my phone and instead having it bookmarked on my laptop. I'm wondering what I should do when it comes to video content, and pictures. Pinterest and Youtube are so full of ads and profit motivation that it's genuinely draining.

My dream rn is to buy a "dumbphone" mainly a nokia flip phone :D
Im happy that you are not into the modern social media! those things suck ( i won't go on the bigger rant of how seriously EVIL these things are designed... another time :P) and are one of the main reason the internet is shiat nowadays, even dead as i consider it.
Also for youtube, you could create a YT2009 instance, it's a pain to set-up (tedious) but man is it worth it, its a 1:1 of youtube in 2009, you can modify everything basically, the default date of videos is from 2005-2009, so you'll get nothing but videos from the golden era of youtube, people sharing stuff with no ulterior motives! :D

Also this AMAZING forum post from "GRIFFEN", he compiled an insane amount of links you can use to "bring back" the old internet (at least the feeling :'I )

Ah thank you! I'll definitely need to look into those, though I'm already finding some cool alternatives and inspiration. I'm definitely having fun exploring!
