Favorite Blogs/Sites/Forums (Jan 2025)

I love going through people's favorite links, and as someone who frequently gets obsessed with things and then drops them, I think a monthly-ish round up sounds like a great idea!
I'd love to include some bloggers/profiles from here as well, I'll most likely wait a month or two to make sure I have a good amount to choose from (with their permission, of course.).

Sites:
  • JS Paint (old school ms paint for browser)
  • Marginalia Search Engine (simple search engine that prioritizes non-commercial content)
  • JummBox 2.6 (chiptune-style music program for browser)
  • Unplatform (A guide and database for removing yourself from social media/web 2.0, highly recommend for those interested in the indie web)
  • emotional.codes (a small resource list of emotional and interpersonal tools, such as relationship talks, nonviolent communication, etc)
  • Kicks Condor (A fascinating archive from across the indie web, great for if you're in the mood to browse around for a while)
  • HOUDINI Magazine (news and media, this site has a variety of political content, from capitalism to workers rights)

Blogs/Personal Sites:
Forums:
I wasn't going for a particular theme, but considering this month was the start of my foray into the indie web/small web, there is definitely a lot of things geared towards that. The things I chose to link are also things I actively check out or have gone through extensively, certainly not ALL the things I have bookmarked!

If you have anything you think I should check out, please comment it or send me a message! Or you can comment your own opinions on what I've arranged here. Thanks for reading!

I was a fan of Kicks Condor for a while, and still think The Hyperchat Modality is a brilliant idea worth exploring.

Ooh yes! I still need to read through a bunch of things on there, but I definitely like the premise of it quite a bit.
