FML, and Fuck dealing with HMRC

Category: Life

I have been having issues with my household's Universal credit claim for the last 2+ months, just trying to get the help we are entitled to. I still work a nearly 50 hour week, while my wife has been made redundant due to health concerns. We have fixed issues caused by UC botching our details repeatedly, and today we find out someone is claiming that my wife is working for a company 200 miles away... » Continue Reading

For my Friend

Category: Life

Recently I was informed that a friend of mine from Edinburgh had passed away. he had been ill for the entire time I knew him. Over 10 years at this point. And it was a miracle that he had held out for as long as he did. The only positive about his passing is that he is no longer in pain. I hadn't heard from him in a while and then out of the blue his ex messaged me across instagram to let me know ... » Continue Reading

If Ubisoft gets their way, I fear for gaming

Category: Games

"Ubisoft Exec Says Gamers Need To Get Comfortable With "Not Owning Your Games" Me: Well that exec can "Get comfortable" with gamers not buying their games. This kind of anti-consumer shit is why piracy is on the rise, and some of the most successful indie studios right now have DRM free options, physical editions, and consumer friendly practices. https://www.thegamer.com/ubisoft-plus-subscription-... » Continue Reading

Emulators?

Category: Games

What are your views on emulators? I know there are some pretty consistent attacks against emulation from companies out there and even questions of their legality circulating the media. Even Nintendo making it increasingly more difficult to be able to legally obtain the bios data for the Switch just to prevent "Piracy". I believe Emulation is the future for media preservation, leading to less lost ... » Continue Reading

Random thought at 3am

Category: Dreams and the Supernatural

Random 3am thought. What would you do with Immortality? I would live kind of as I currently do, developing skills and refining the skills I do have. I'd have all the time in the world so there would be no rush to master anything, I can take my time to mess it up, start again and get it right. I could play every game I wanted, watch every movie, series, performance recording, read every book, and n... » Continue Reading

Life's been interesting

Category: Blogging

So over the last week I've been quite sick with some post flight lurgy mixed with an ear infection that migrated to my chest.  I'm over the worst of it now, but for about a day I couldn't even stand under my own strength. While I was that ill I then proceeded to track a Death Doom metal album as I could not afford to rebook anything to when I was feeling better. And to my surprise it went amazingl... » Continue Reading

Why do Open worlds kinda suck now?

Category: Games

The open world game is a bit of an interesting batch, even if most of the actual games are as interesting as watching a gelatinous blob simmer in the summer heat. Most of them these days follow the Ubisoft method of creating a large detailed world and then just try to fill it with as much busy work as humanly possible. Basic things like 4 reskinned collectables, time attack races, some scattershot... » Continue Reading

The Post-Dad game

Category: Games

I've been consuming a lot more gaming content recently to help guide my attention to where some of the discourse is headed so I'm no longer just separated from it all. During my time rediscovering a lot of modern gaming content (outside of Fortnite compilations and Minecraft build videos) I came across the term "Dad game" and this was referring to games like - Microsoft Flight Simulator, Power Was... » Continue Reading

God damn I hate my day job...

Category: Jobs, Work, Careers

After frustrating interactions in work I'm gonna be sharing my Ko-Fi more often. Hoping to some of you will see it and consider becoming a member to support the free work I do as well as help me to make necessary improvements to all of my work. I think I'm just fed up of all the boarder-line abuse I receive in my job, and now that fellow staff are also showing their true colours, wearing the skin ... » Continue Reading

Lifelong Learner.

Category: Goals, Plans, Hopes

If you're developing any kind of skill weather it be artistic, or mechanical, I'd suggest taking the Lifelong learner (or Lifelong Student) approach.  Hone your skills continuously, and don't rush it. Your learning never stops, even when you think you've learned all you can, there is always something else you can try. Just take a look at virtuoso guitarists like Paul Gilbert, and Steve Vai. Paul G... » Continue Reading

We are all Sisyphus

Category: Life

" Sisyphus  (or Sisyphos) is a figure from  Greek mythology  who, as king of  Corinth , became infamous for his general trickery and twice cheating  death . He ultimately got his comeuppance when  Zeus  dealt him the eternal punishment of forever rolling a boulder up a hill in the depths of  Hades . Founder of the Isthmian Games and grandfather of  Bellerophon , he is nowadays best remembered as a... » Continue Reading

Burnout and stress

Category: Blogging

I feel burned out.  I just want to disappear from life for a few weeks, get my mojo back. Lounge by a pool. Do some swimming, climb a mountain, something like that. I want to come back to content creation, and work feeling refreshed for a change, but the way life is right now it's going to be quite some time before that is a viable option. I've not even left anything yet. But I need some kind of b... » Continue Reading
