Ok, I'm a big fan of the Addams family. I love the original sitcom and the 90s films and the original strip. So I watched Wednesday... It wasn't terrible. It just felt like fanfic written by someone who was familiar with the source material but wasn't very good at writing the Addams in-character. I really disliked the family dynamic (sans a few scenes between Wednesday and Pugsley and the episode ... » Continue Reading
Finally sat down and watched the Weird Al biopic and had a blast. I could clearly tell it was a passion project for Al and it looked like everyone involved had a great time. I already gave a short review on Letterboxd , but seeing as my page here is half Weird Al themed, I think its appropriate to go more in-detail here. » Continue Reading
Do people not read my profile before sending a friend request? I know, I know, its a little presumptuous of me to assume ppl online are gonna actually follow the rule I set, but I put in bold on my profile that I don't accept friend requests from people under 16... I keep getting requests from kids barely old enough to get an instagram. I'm not trying to make this an oldies only account or anythin... » Continue Reading
Just finished my reread of TSOM! The book is good, but it's my least favorite of the series, so I'm just gonna list a few thoughts: -Percy is such an asshole to Tyson, I know his arc in this story is learning to love his new brother but he really doesn't have any non-bigoted reason to be hating on Tyson so hard in the first act of the book. Like bro you are also mentally disabled (ik Tyson is supp... » Continue Reading
Just finished re-reading The Lightning Thief for the 2000th time, lol. I'm re-reading the whole series, so I think I'll write a short blog on each book with my thoughts. This book holds up seriously well. I enjoyed every minute of it, the humor is amazing and the pacing is great. The references to "western civilization" being destroyed made me cringe, though, and I felt like the Crusty's Waterbed ... » Continue Reading
I’m pretty much done with my Charlie Kelly costume! I didn’t really make it, more like I thrifted/just happened to have clothes that were near-identical to the ones he wears onscreen, but I’m satisfied nonetheless! I don’t have any canon shirts (although I’m keeping my eye out for one online), nor do I have the exact same pair of vans he’s worn for gd-knows-how-long, but I don’t think that’s entir... » Continue Reading
I saw Unbearable Weight a couple of hours ago and I still don't know what to think of it. There were parts of it I enjoyed, but I feel like I was missing a lot of Nic Cage references I wasn't in the know to see and I wasn't sure what tone the movie was going for... Meta stories can be cool and well done, but if it's half-baked or lazy it just ends up confusing and pretentious. I feel like this mo... » Continue Reading
I dunno if it’s cause we have the same name or just cause I’ve watched a lot of sunny recently or what. But almost every night this past week I’ve dreamed that I was Charlie Kelly. I don’t remember anything about these dreams besides the fact that I was him and I was scrambling around like he does every episode. » Continue Reading
I find pacific rim's relationship with military imagery really, really interesting. Guillermo Del Toro made a point not to use any actual military ranks for the PPDC and kept this military-like organization as far away (metaphorically) from any real life military as possible. It's definitely structured like a military, but its also shown to be more of a resistance against the actual authorities in... » Continue Reading
I've been really getting into The Talking Heads lately. Their music is so unique and it's so interesting to see how they changed the rock scene and influenced many newer artists. David Byrne is a real musical genius and a lot of the band's discography is made so much more interesting with the help of Brian Eno's producing skills. » Continue Reading
