Ok, I'm a big fan of the Addams family. I love the original sitcom and the 90s films and the original strip. So I watched Wednesday...
It wasn't terrible. It just felt like fanfic written by someone who was familiar with the source material but wasn't very good at writing the Addams in-character. I really disliked the family dynamic (sans a few scenes between Wednesday and Pugsley and the episode with Fester) which is kind of like... the whole appeal of The Addams Family? I also HATED the love triangle, but it's a teen drama so... I guess they had to hit some tropes. I dunno. probably about a 6.5/10 for me. Had fun watching, but it left much to be desired.
I'd recommend anyone who watched this series check out some of the original strips. They're over 100 years old and still hold up incredibly well.

Totally agree. been a big fan for YEARS and wednesday just felt really.. watered down? like its barely addams family material. her hating her family? that goes against everything they originally stood for, they tried too hard to make her edgy I think. It gave me heavy tiktok aesthetic vibes
I did enjoy jenna's inspiration from tradgoth though, very cool

The thing is... they didn't even need to try that hard to make her edgy, ykno? She's an Addams, for crying out loud! She can be edgy and still be part of a goofy loving family dynamic! And I agree, I think Jenna went above and beyond with the material she was given!

Haven't seen the show. Noticed people talking about it here, talking it up. Then one day I stumbled upon a video: "Wednesday" 1x04 - Wednesday Addams Dance Scene - 2:24
I was surprised to learn the show concerned Wednesday Addams.

And I was greatly impressed by her dancing. I also watched an interview with her where she said she had choreographed it all herself, in two days, after binge watching youtube videos. She also said she came down with Covid the night before and was not feeling well the day of filming.
I like her deadpan expression; reminded me of one of my favorite actors, Aubrey Plaza.
Yeah! the dance scene was great. I think the actress playing wednesday did a fantastic job, honestly.
