2025 leatherworking showcase

Category: Art and Photography

I've made a few bulletins about this but realize that I should make a blog post of some of my very favorite works from this year. started leatherworking early 2023, somewhat off and on, but due to major life circumstances this year I have been focusing on it very heavily. I've started selling my work at events to try to build up some savings since I lost my job, and it's been really nice to have s... » Continue Reading

evening walks

Category: Life

been spending a lot of time lately going on walks every evening. sometimes around my neighborhood, usually at a public park near where I live that has some nature trails. it's meditative, gets me out of my house, lets me either think about things or avoid thinking for a bit. I don't tend to run into other people at the nature park due to the fact that I often stay after dark and avoid the main pav... » Continue Reading

musings on pop music and The Culture

Category: Music

I went to the pharmacy this afternoon and forgot my headphones, which is of course always when there's a 20+ minute wait to pick up my prescriptions. for a decent chunk of the wait, the store radio was playing a song that isn't familiar to me that turned out to  Ordinary  by a guy named Alex Warren. Some searching revealed that this song has been in the top 10 of the billboard hot 100 since Februa... » Continue Reading

autism misinformation and its ramifications

Category: News and Politics

This is going to be a free-form and loosely structured rant with a large personal angle. I am an extremely biased commentator and will not present myself otherwise. I will not be placing much emphasis on debunking common claims about autism as there are people far more qualified to do so that have put far more work, research, and thought into the topic in a scientific sense. To briefly summarize o... » Continue Reading

bleached my hair + thoughts on controlled change

Category: Life

I've had the same haircut for a while and don't change how I style it very often. it's a consistency thing, I struggle heavily with change and transitional periods so routines and little things I can control are very important to me. lately I have come to the realization that change is something that you  can  control in some cases. it's somewhat silly, but testing these boundaries for my levels o... » Continue Reading

the laura palmer funko pop: a case study in consumerist self-parody

Category: Movies, TV, Celebrities

this write-up is not intended to shame anyone who participates in any form of collecting as a hobby, including funko pops. while I have a strong personal distaste for them, it's not my choice how you dedicate your time or money. I merely wish to make some observations about the way the brand reflects the ways we engage with popular art. I will also do my best to remain vague in details around the ... » Continue Reading
