2025 leatherworking showcase

I've made a few bulletins about this but realize that I should make a blog post of some of my very favorite works from this year. started leatherworking early 2023, somewhat off and on, but due to major life circumstances this year I have been focusing on it very heavily. I've started selling my work at events to try to build up some savings since I lost my job, and it's been really nice to have something to just focus on for a while.

I also have a tumblr blog (started in july) that I am somewhat decent about posting to if you're curious to see more of my bits n bobs. I think it's missing all of my dog collars though. whoops.

these are all entirely handmade, including cutting, stitching, setting hardware, and designwork. they're made from veg-tan cattle leather (occasionally oil-tanned for straps that don't have to be as rigid). I don't use vegan leather whatsoever for a variety of reasons that I would be happy to discuss, but for here I'll keep it brief and say that I think using byproducts of a pre-existing industry is more harm reductive than causing excess carbon emissions through plastic processing. actual leather is also far more durable. with occasional simple treatment, these pieces will easily last for the rest of someone's natural lifetime.

top left to bottom right: belt pouches, tarot card cases (I also make box-style card cases for TCG stuff), a piece of shoulder armor I made for myself, tooling details on dog collars, some of my many, many bracelet/cuff styles, cardholders/slim wallets

damnn this is such a cool skill and all your pieces look great. what kind of paint do u use to colour the leather?

thanks! for dying I use fiebing's pro dye (usually slightly diluted and layered) and for painted details I use angelus acrylic leather paint. it's crack-resistant and won't scratch off the top when you go to seal the piece like most acrylics will.

they market pretty heavily for custom shoes as well as leathercraft, I've never tried it but they seem to work quite well. I know a few cosplay propmakers who use it as well, pretty adaptable stuff. it's really vibrant too.

All of them looks sick! The shoulder armor is especially cool though.

thank you! I'm super happy with it, I've never made armor before so it was a bit of a learning experience. wanted something to wear to a small renaissance faire I'm vending at though.

Ohh, I think it's perfect for an event like that! I thought it'll look cool on a forest knight character when I first saw it.
