I've been getting into bookbinding pretty hardcore for the past week and a half or so. mostly been doing rebinds of paperbacks I had, but I made one journal and I'm starting to dabble in printing typeset public domain works to do proper traditional binding with. it's a really fun hobby and not nearly as hard as it looks, though I'm still working through a lot of little specific issues. that learning process is really fun and fulfilling though, as is the actual process of building a book.
my best/favorite work so far is this rebind of william s. burroughs' naked lunch I finished up earlier, which I also decided to paint the page edges of. this is an even simpler and quicker way to customize books btw. my clamp setup is just two cutting boards and clamps from the hardware store, and that's about all you need aside from paint, sandpaper, corn starch, and some form of paper to protect the cover.

here are some others I've done, arranged in chronological order. the second example is a journal with a hand-sewn textblock, which is its own challenge but pretty cool.

˙✧˖° ༘ ⋆。˚These are very nice. Oh man, Naked Lunch. Man, I read that and it gave me the creeps like four and a half years. lolZ
thanks! yeah, it's such a gnarly book. really takes some time to digest. not the only burroughs I have a copy of but it was the one that was in the worst state so I prioritized rebinding it. I have some ideas for the others though, so I'll get to them eventually for sure.
