Tomorrow is the opening night of my school’s play: Rogers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella. Today we did a dress rehearsal during the school day and put on a preview show for the next year’s freshmen. The cast, crew, sets and costumes are amazing so why was I so worried? Well, I open and close the curtains, and they’re always changing the cues for it. Ex: one minute it’s “open the curtains for the dir... » Continue Reading
Tonight for dinner I made Beverly Goldberg’s Shrimp Parm from The Goldbergs Cookbook. It was good. Really good. I don’t exactly get why there was shrimp, since shrimp isn’t kosher, and apparently seafood and cheese aren’t supposed to go together… but it was really good regardless… so I overlooked it and just went on to enjoy dinner. I’ll leave the recipe and some notes for those who make it. Adapt... » Continue Reading
Anyone want a show to binge? Here’s a good one: Freaks and Geeks! First, I’ll give you some information about the show. It’s created by Judd Apatow and Paul Freig and it ran on NBC from fall 1999 to spring 2000, then on FOX Family (later ABC Family, now Freeform) during summer to fall 2000 since NBC wouldn’t air a few episodes. It was sadly cancelled just a few episodes in :( Luckily, this launche... » Continue Reading

Julie Powell, one of my favorite bloggers has died. She was 49 and it was of cardiac arrest. In 2002-3 she cooked her way through Julia Child’s Mastering the Art of French Cooking and blogged about it. While I wouldn’t have been able to read it in real time, I read her book and watched her movie and loved them both. I never knew her IRL but that doesn't make it any less sad. RIP, legend. Bon app... » Continue Reading
Reine de Saba, which means “Queen of Sheba”, which really means “A Really Amazing Chocolate Cake”. This was Julia Child’s favorite cake and is definitely some of the best things to come out of her cookbook. When you make this, you’ll need some patience. The c » Continue Reading
Now: here are arguably some of the BEST foods in the planet: Volcanoes! Now, you may be asking what a volcano is in food. It's basically a giant dinner roll stuffed with caramelized onions and scalloped potatoes then topped with cheese. Yum! The recipe came from the Momofuku Milk Bar cookbook and the minute I found the recipe, I knew I HAD to try them. Adapted from “Momofuku Milk Bar” Volcanoes Ma... » Continue Reading
I love the show King of the Hill. And when Binging with Babish did a king of the hill special, I tried the Spapeggy recipe. It was amazing, but it’s not Spapeggy. I simplified the recipe a little more, I mean it’s VERY bold to assume Peggy doesn’t add sugar to jarred sauce. So I used jarred spaghetti sauce and the meatball recipe on the back of the Parmesan container. I served it with garlic bread... » Continue Reading
Okay whenever you order a package do you just obsess over waiting for it until it arrives? Apparently there’s a name for it: Pre-Parcel Anxiety. Yup. I have it. Last night I ordered Third Rock From the Sun on DVD and even though it said it’s coming next Wednesday, I’ve been looking at the tracker throughout the day and I just can’t stop thinking about it. I’ve tried a bunch of “tips” and none of t... » Continue Reading
Hello Everyone! Welcome to my blog! I'm thinking this can just be a place where I can post recipes or whatever I'm thinking. For my first post I'm gonna make Potage Parmentier, or Potato and leek soup. It's super easy and yummy and can be served hot or cold! Adapted from Julia Child's "Mastering the Art of French Cooking", one of my favorite cookbooks. 1 lb. Potatoes, washed, peeled, and sliced (a... » Continue Reading
