Spapeggy and Meatballs (simplified)

I love the show King of the Hill. And when Binging with Babish did a king of the hill special, I tried the Spapeggy recipe. It was amazing, but it’s not Spapeggy. I simplified the recipe a little more, I mean it’s VERY bold to assume Peggy doesn’t add sugar to jarred sauce. So I used jarred spaghetti sauce and the meatball recipe on the back of the Parmesan container. I served it with garlic bread and salad and it was delicious! So here’s the recipe:

1 jar spaghetti sauce (24 ounces, whatever kind you want, I used mushroom)

A pinch of sugar

Spaghetti

One cup reserved pasta water

Meatballs, from the Kraft Parmesan cheese container

1 egg

1 Tbs dried parsley

1/3 cup Parmesan cheese

1 clove garlic, minced

1 lb. Ground beef

Heat the oven to 375°F

Heat the sauce on medium-low heat in a skillet

Boil the water for the pasta in a large pot

Mix all meatball ingredients in a bowl and shape into 12 meatballs bake on a sheet pan for 15 minutes or until they register at 165°F. Transfer them to the sauce and let it cook for a while. Meanwhile, cook the pasta as directed on the box.

Add the sugar to the sauce and stir it in.

Once the pasta is cooked, reserve one cup pasta water and put the pasta, sauce, meatballs, and pasta water in the pot and stir together. Serve with sprinkled Parmesan cheese, garlic bread, and salad on the side.

And before you can say “That’s Amore”, Arlen’s favorite Italian restaurant, you have Spapeggy and Meatballs!

Enjoy!
