A new Canadian Social Media place

Category: Web, HTML, Tech

There's a new Canadian-made social media platform in the works. For now, they're still getting things set up. The URL is:  https://gandersocial.ca/ Clicking on the Roadmap link on the top of the screen, a little to the right of center, shows their progress. It looks like it'll be interesting. » Continue Reading

The updated Firefox

Category: Web, HTML, Tech

In a recent update to Firefox, a side panel and an AI assistant were introduced. It apparently annoyed the hell  out of quite a few people, myself included. As a result, I'll be messing with Vivaldi to see if I can configure it to resemble what I've done with FF, to a certain extent, as far as functionality goes. As usual, time will tell.  » Continue Reading

Bad translations

Category: Web, HTML, Tech

I had commented on something elsewhere the other day. German was the language. The topic was food. I had said, in German, that "I just ate some perogies and a sausage, and was too full to eat anything else". The translator being used there translated what I said in German. Its version of what I said was "I just ate some pussy and a sausage and was tired of eating more". 🤣 » Continue Reading

The girl and the police

Category: Life

Cop on horse says to little girl on bike, "Did Santa get you that?"   "Yes," replies the little girl.   "Well tell him to put a reflector light on it next year!" and fines her £5.   The little girl looks up at the cop and says, "Nice horse you've got there, did Santa bring you that?"   The cop chuckles and replies, "He sure did!"   "Well," says the little girl, "Next year tell Santa that the dick ... » Continue Reading

A change in VoIP providers is in the air

Category: Web, HTML, Tech

It looks like I'll be changing VoIP providers in the next while. The one I have now is in the US (I'm in Canada), and the exchange rate is outrageous. The new  place has an introductory offer for the first year, with a 30 day money back guarantee. After the first year, the price goes up $20. With the regular price of the new one, compared to the current one, I'd be saving about $131 a year. I'd be... » Continue Reading

Amazon TV devices (Fire Stick, Cube, etc.)

Category: Web, HTML, Tech

Since getting rid of Amazon, I bought an NVIDIA Shield, the tube-shaped one, just to see what the hype was about. It's not fancy. The only attachable thing was an SD card that could be inserted. It worked better than the Cube. So good that I took the leap and got the NVIDIA Shield Pro. Better specs for the innards than the non-Pro version and 2 USB ports too. The only thing I don't like about eith... » Continue Reading

Adios Amazon, Bye Bye Bezos

Category: Web, HTML, Tech

The Amazon account I had is gone. I cancelled it right after I did a factory reset on the Cube I  have. Now the Cube is an expensive paper weight since it needs to connect to Amazon to do basically anything other than turn on. It's time to shop local, or at least as local as possible. » Continue Reading

Replacing Amazon

Category: Life

I'll be checking out Newegg as a replacement for Amazon, at least for electronics. It'll be interesting to see who they use for deliveries and to see how accurate their delivery dates will be. » Continue Reading
