piano track wip

Category: Music

When I'm not studying or programming, I like to make music! There's something so calming about the process. Compared to programming I don't have to think much, it just kind of happens. Melodies unravel one by one slowly forming a track. Sometimes it's shit, sometimes it's nice but it always feels worth it. Thought I'd share a track I'm working on for a game :D Track I'm working on! » Continue Reading

#12 - LOGS

Category: Games

wrote eight logs for one of the key characters in the game. gonna have to re-work the later half tomorrow but  it's not too bad. been procrastinating for two days :I i think it's at because i don't have a clear direction for the game, hopefully having the story planned out will lessen that. » Continue Reading

#11 - VENTS AND MENUS

Category: Games

the level is now completable, it's scuffed af but it works. i added vents, menus, and started working on the monster script today. i need to re-do the entire level design, i can make it so much better now that i know the flow of events. tomorrow i want to work more on the monster script, make it react to noise and give it paths to alternate between, we'll see how that goes :I » Continue Reading

#10 - COMPUTEEERS

created a bunch of 3d meshes today in blender. i'm still far from over when it comes to assets and it's so annoying doing this on a laptop trackpad i'm just gonna post-pone this until i have access to my desktop pc. also added different floor types in the game that have different noise levels. tomorrow i want the level to be completable from start to finish and if i have time over start working on... » Continue Reading

working on my laptop so i lost time setting up the project. today i blocked out the crew quarter area and added doors. it looks so fkn empty and uninspired atm ive never really designed a level so i have no idea what im doing but its a start. gonna re-work the the entire area until i'm happy with it. i want the game to reward exploration by adding multiple ways to "clear" a place. there is also so... » Continue Reading

today i added logs to the game and spent the rest of the time fixing bugs. don't really have much to say this went fairly straightforward. i've also begun to sketch out level design ideas for a "crew quarter" area and started writing down ideas for logs. wont be able to do much tomorrow or over the weekend but i want to have a first draft ready before next week. » Continue Reading

setting up the sound effects to fit with the player movement was a nightmare. i fixed it by creating empty animations for walking, crouching, and jumping and then putting a play sound functions in each of them. so much time was lost today just getting shit to work again, whenever i add a new mechanic five break. whatever i'm happy i got it running. also started working on collision sfx and gonna c... » Continue Reading

keypad done! setting this up properly was messier than i thought but not too bad. now i have a really quick way of setting up passwords when creating new keypads also which is nice. obviously the textures are scuffed af and only act as placeholders. after completing this i feel much more confident in modifying variables through multiple scripts. also started working on a outline material for when ... » Continue Reading

felt lazy today but i continued working on implementing keypads. it's going ok, the player is able to toggle between an on/off state and when moving away the keypad ui will automatically hide and reset. today i also learnt how to read and modify variables from other scripts which is gonna be really useful in the future. tomorrow i want to get the rest of it done and move on to implementing audio. » Continue Reading

My movable object script kept breaking today so a bunch of time was wasted fixing it. Added crouching, and learnt how to export models from Blender. I've changed my mind, I want to wait a bit with working on the enemy. I don't think I'm ready yet and want to practice the basics a bit more. But yea things are slowly coming together I've got an idea in my head of how I want the level to look like. S... » Continue Reading

fixed a bunch of bugs related to intractable objects and started working on enemy ai. it's fkn hard and annoying and i barely slept  but I have to finish this shit. right now the enemy can follow a path and when close to the player starts chasing them, it's a start. tomorrow i want to polish that up add proper raycast gizmos so i can debug properly after i'm done with that i'm gonna start working ... » Continue Reading

I scratched everything from yesterday besides the movement. The game looks way more interesting now. I spent most of my time today focusing on making objects intractable, and it's working! KIND OF. I need to adjust a couple of things before it's bug free, the ground collision is fucked. But I'm happy that I managed to code this mostly on my own with the help of Unity documentation. I did use a tut... » Continue Reading
