The game croaks when there's literally any action going on. One single explosion and it drops to like, 5 frames. Literally anytime the physics are pushed just a little it freaks out. Bop one explosive barrel with a couple objects next to it? Say goodbye to your frames. Helicopter? Goodbye frames. Those stupid little picture drones crashing and burning? Enjoy playing Slideshow Simulator. Even just ... » Continue Reading
Got my Original Xbox set up once more, it's time to live a childhood I've never experienced. Never been that big into shooters, but I feel like this would be a good place as any to start getting more familiar with the genre. Ignoring Doom 2016. Good shit, but my god Also, holy shit, there's a new Xbox Live original replacement on the horizon. Those guys working on this Project Insignia thing are a... » Continue Reading
So my main laptop is an Alienware M14X, released in 2012. Yeah, it's old, but it's plenty powerful. Equipped with an Intel i7-2670QM CPU, an Nvidia Geforce GT555M GPU, 16 gigs of RAM and a 1 terabyte SSD, It can handle some light gaming and office tasks. Does Blender halfway decently as well, though I've never pushed it to its absolute limit in that regard. I can also tolerate a lot of compromise,... » Continue Reading
Sometime this year, or maybe last year, I had watched a couple Studio Ghibli movies for the first time. A couple classics. Started with My Neighbour Totoro, and it was a nice experience. Went on to Kiki's Delivery Service, my favourite out of all of them, and I loved everything about it. Kept on going with Ponyo, Howl's Moving Castle, Spirited Away, The Secret World of Arrietty, From Up on Poppy H... » Continue Reading
A few years ago, I had bought a Sega Dreamcast. I love the thing to death, lots of games I would love to get on it. The sonic Adventure series, Jet Grind Radio, Crazy Taxi, Space Channel Five, Chu Chu Rocket, all the good classics I never experienced when I was younger. Well, I bought the system, a controller, a VMU save card and a couple games all as a bundle, for a not too bad price of $100. The... » Continue Reading
So I've been playing some more Minecraft version 1.8.8 recently. I initially got it because it was the oldest version of Minecraft that would run Optifine, but Optifine turns out to be sketch as fuck, so I ditched that idea. Phosphor was my second idea, but I don't think it would be compatible with a little development board being pushed way out of it's league. Usually when I play Minecraft, I avo... » Continue Reading
So I figured out how to play Minecraft on my Pi. Hooray! Older versions work well enough, 1.0 being a little slow while 1.8.8 somehow works slightly better. Overall playable, good stuff. I, however, wanted to play the Alpha versions of minecraft, specifically 1.1.2_01, the version I've mainly been playing on for the past week. One issue with that though, it would throw up an error every time I lau... » Continue Reading
As I had suspected, a lot of issues came from the fact that I was pushing the poor Pi too hard. As it turns out pushing a 1.4 gigahertz Pi to run at a full 2 gigahertz isn't the best idea. I still overclocked it, but to a more reasonable 1.6 gigahertz, and that seems much better. seems a little faster to me as well. Or maybe I'm looking through the rose-tinted glasses of not crashing every two sec... » Continue Reading
Who'da thunk it, the raspberry pi isn't powerful enough to do much of anything. It does do some things well, such as running a web browser doing very minimal work, such as running Tumblr or Spacehey, but aside from that, it falls apart. Discord was already a major issue, having to use a third party client to use it on here outside of a web browser at all, only to have the client literally just be ... » Continue Reading
So in an attempt to reduce some power consumption when doing computer things, and because I'm bored and have nothing better to do, I decided to try replacing my main gaming computer with a raspberry pi, at least for light computing tasks, like looking at social media, watching Youtube, all that good stuff. A quick recap for those unfamiliar with the Raspberry Pi, it is a small, "single board" comp... » Continue Reading
I'm currently playing through Alpha version 1.1.2_01, and it's an interesting experience. Getting the obvious differences out of the way, it looked very different. It was a lot brighter, the grass a lot greener, the sky a lot bluer, the gravel and cobblestone a lot uglier. There's also the matter of there being no hunger bar, food instead healing hearts directly. I kind of prefer it this way, hone... » Continue Reading
