CBYPAAT Devlog #10

Category: Blogging

Sorry for not uploading the past few days, I was busy at the time I usually upload and so forgot to. As such, these devlog changes are about three days all sandwiched together.  Devlog Changes: Created levels 6-20 in World 3 (levels 46-60), thus completing development of World 3. That's it basically, I spent the past few days finishing world 3. Yay, go me. As for what's next, I'm gonna make the fi... » Continue Reading

Finally posting another one of these. I've been busy with having several different speeds of mental breakdown  exams and general lack of motivation these past couple of weeks so its been a bit since I've been able to work on the game. I've also worked on it in little chunks over the past several days, none of which felt worth starting daily devlogs again for, but enough features came together toda... » Continue Reading

Procedurally Generated Planets

Category: Art and Photography

I spent today procrastinating by making a program that could procedurally generate cool planet pixel art. My plan was to make it online so other people could use it but its incredibly slow to process and also the auto-screenshot unity feature does not work easily online, so that's not happening any time soon. It may happen in future. Anyway here's a fun gif of some planets I generated: https://gph... » Continue Reading

This devlog didn't make the cut of being published on the day it was meant to but thats ok because its a big one. World 2 (The Beach) is now complete. Every level is made, even the ones that had to be reworked because I decided that bouncy walls were a shite mechanic. Every level is also set up to have the right name, be bug free and work within the systems of the game as it presently exists. The ... » Continue Reading

Actually got a decent chunk of work done on the game today to my surprise. Could've done more but I'm happily busy on Sunday evenings. Devlog Changes: Made Levels 2.14-2.18. I really like these new levels, and am much more proud of them than I am of the other levels I made so far. Made a better custom cursor that lets the cursor be more visible on bright backgrounds. I've decided that the "bouncy ... » Continue Reading

Another busy day where I didn't work on the game that much. Devlog Changes: Added animation to all pickups, rotating slowly Changed colour of bonus ammo to make it more obvious from the ground Added a unique sound effect to each pickup that plays upon grabbing them Made levels 12-13 Started work on making a new custom cursor to help the mouse stand out on bright levels, as playing without being ab... » Continue Reading

I was busy for most of today so I didn't do a lot of work on the project. Devlog: Levels 7- 11 of World 2 were created Tomorrow I will make more levels in World 2, and probably add an animation and sound effect to the pickups. I'm also not liking the design of a lot of levels in World 2, so after I make all 20 of them I will probably go through and rework the ones I like the least » Continue Reading

Happy new year Devlog Changes: Made it so that after reaching maximum speed bullets move at a constant speed with changing direction to prevent them from getting stuck while bouncing Made a plan for what each level in world 2 should aim to be Made a unique sprite for the bounce walls so that they can be told apart from regular walls by more than just colour Made levels 1-6 for world 2 See you next... » Continue Reading

I spent most of today asleep and very mildly hungover, so again I didn't do quite as much work as I wanted to (get used to me saying this, I suspect I will be saying it a lot) Either way, all the new game mechanics I planned to introduce in World 2 (Beach) are now programmed! Yay! This actually counts as a milestone, and it happened much much quicker than I thought it would! Now I can move on to d... » Continue Reading

Sneaking this in just before midnight so I can say I'm doing one everyday I didn't work on the game a lot today as I woke up late and was busy all afternoon, but luckily it turns out that it didn't take that long to add some features. Features added since last devlog: Destructible walls have been added that block enemies and can be destroyed in a single shot Fixed a new bug where bullets did not '... » Continue Reading

I have time off of uni and have beaten the games I wanted to play over that break so that means I'm going to start working on my shitty unity game again - and I'm going to subject everyone else to that process as well. Finally finished with the bad programming for grades, time to return to the good programming for fun. Anyway memes aside as it says on my profile I'm currently working on converting... » Continue Reading
