I'm gonna assume you didn't come to a recipe post to not see the recipe. Happy Holidays.
Ingredients:
- 3/4 cup of golden syrup
- 3/4 cup of water
- 1/2 cup of brown sugar
- 185g of butter
- 2+1/4 cups of plain flour
- A heaped teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda
- A heaped teaspoon of mixed spice
- A heaped tablespoon of ground ginger
Steps:
- Begin preheating your oven to 180 degrees Celsius
- Line a 16cm by 26cm baking tray with non stick grease paper.
- Combine the golden syrup, water, sugar and melted butter. This can be done by stirring and mixing them in a pan, but my preferred method is to simply add all the ingredients to a measuring cup and microwave it.
- Pour that mixture into a medium sized bowl, and add all the other ingredients.
- Beat the mixture at a medium speed using an electric beater, or any other method that works for you, until the mixture is smooth (usually after around 2 minutes)
- Pour the mixture into the prepared pans (pictured below)
- Bake the mixture for roughly 35 mins.
- You can tell it is cooked when if you poke the top of the loaf, the surface will quickly rebound and you won't leave an imprint.
- My finished loaf looked like this:
- Let it cool before cutting it into slices.
Once the loaf is cooled and finished, you should have a nice gingerbread loaf. You can then customize to taste, adding icing or sugar to the top if you want.
