Before your memory fades - The Young Man

Category: Books and Stories

The Young Man This was the final chapter of BYMF, I hope for there to be a forth edition to this series in the future and I’m sad i’ve finished it. This story was about Reiji and Nanako (a cafe regular). Reiji is moving to Tokyo because his audition was successful. Nanako however needs to go to America just as he is leaving for Tokyo. She tells everyone in the cafe apart from Rei » Continue Reading

Before your memory fades - The Sister

Category: Books and Stories

The Sister Out of every story and all three books this story had me sobbing the most. It was about Reiko the eldest sister with severe anxiety struggling to overcome her younger sisters death. Instead of Reiko travelling back in time her sister came from the past to visit her. Reiji was also accepted into the comedi » Continue Reading

Todoroki from PORON DORON has gone missing and Hayashida, the other man from the duo, is worried for him. Hayashida waits out at the café day after day expecting him to arrive and wanting to travel back in time. Before your memory fades - The Daughter

Category: Books and Stories

The Daughter I’m now onto the third edition of ‘Before the coffee gets cold’, in the last story of BTCGT Kei travelled to the future to see Miki. The start of this book aligned with that scene and explained why Nagare and Kazu are in Hokkaido, they need to temporarily run the other time travelling café which Nagare’s mother, » Continue Reading

Tales from the cafe - The Married Couple

Category: Books and Stories

The Married Couple Very sad to have finally finished this book but also very happy because it was so good. I feel like this book had more of a moral to it than the first book. It made me actually learn a lesson about death and how i should see it in a more positive manner. This story was about a detective who wanted to travel back thirty years to gift his wife the birthday present he was never abl... » Continue Reading

Laura Dean keeps breaking up with me

Category: Books and Stories

I know this isn’t Tales From The Cafe, but I recently finished this graphic novel, Laura Dean keeps breaking up with me, and wanted to share my thoughts. I am extremely happy to have found a wlw book, I’ve been looking for one for quite some time but the ones i was finding seemed boring to me. I loved the art style of this novel, it was adorable and really fit the characters. It’s about a girl, Fr... » Continue Reading

Tales from the cafe - The Lovers

Category: Books and Stories

I read the third story of TFTC in one sitting today. This chapter was alot different to the previous  stories (from either book), instead of a character travelling back in time, the whole story was about Kurata who had travelled from the past into the present. It was difficult for me to wrap my head around at first but it was a really good story. He had recently been diagnosed with a form of Leuke... » Continue Reading

Tales from the cafe - Mother and Son

Category: Books and Stories

Today I finished the second story of TFTC, it was very sad. It’s about a son who was unable to attend his mothers funeral and unaware she was dying from cancer. This story specifically was special to me because the mother didn’t want to tell the son to make him stressed or upset. Similar to something that has happened in my own life. The story was written wonderfully and i enjoyed the time they sp... » Continue Reading

Tales from the cafe - The Best Friend

Category: Books and Stories

This story was a great start to the book. It’s about Gohtaro a now 50yr old man who wants to travel back 22 years to see his best friend. He had to raise his friends daughter because of his sudden death. Gohtaro plans on travelling back in time to record his friend saying hi to show the daughter. This story reveals more about Kazu, the woman in the white dress and Kei’s daughter, Miki. Miki is rea... » Continue Reading

Before the coffee gets cold - Mother and Child

Category: Books and Stories

This chapter was the perfect story for the book to end on. You learn they can travel to the future and a few characters have a reappearance including Fusagi and the girl who traveled from the future to see Kei. This story was all about Kei and Nagare’s relationship and Kei’s struggling with her heart condition. It was terribly sad but written perfectly and you could really imagine the scene in you... » Continue Reading

Before the coffee gets cold - The Sisters

Category: Books and Stories

I think this story was my favourite out of the three I’ve read so far. You find out that people from the future can travel back to the present which I found intriguing. This chapter is the story of Hirai and Kumi. I didn’t expect Hirai to have a story about her but I very much appreciate it. This story was primarily focused on Kumi and Hirai’s relationship and the guilt Hirai feels now that she ca... » Continue Reading
