The most recent execution by guillotine happened AFTER the first Star Wars movie came out, the man executed was named Hamida Djandoubi. He murdered, tortured, and did other horrible things to a woman he kidnapped in 1974, in which he was sentenced to death in february 1977, executed by guillotine in september that year.
