New Senses Fail album

Category: Music

Have you been a true emo? Then Senses Fail is one of those bands that you have fond memories of, even as their best album ever - Still Searching - was written by Buddy while in a very dark, depressed place. The new album will be a sequel to that, but Buddy is a husband and father now, and writes from a much more hopeful place. » Continue Reading

Taylor Swift saving 2020

Category: Music

TayTay is releasing evermore , her sequel to folklore , and I have a confession to make. To be honest with y'all, I was quite dismissive of her music, even as I was diving into the world of Scandipop (Scandinavian pop). It was just too bubblegum for my taste. Then 2020 happened, Taylor found herself in lockdown, and created a wonder. A guy like me who has loved indie » Continue Reading

Emo's Not Dead

Category: Music

I hope you're familiar with Matt Cutshall, who often feels emo, might delete later. Turns out he's made a whole song, and the video is premiering today . The song is already available on Spotify , and it's as emo as it gets. 2020 is getting saved, afterall. » Continue Reading

The problem with legacy profile customizers

Category: SpaceHey

I see a bunch of profiles that reuse code from legacy MySpace profile customizer sites. Not only that these are living fossils that should disappear (seriously, who's paying for keeping them online?), but the code is not compatible with SpaceHey, which has a lot leaner base code than the old MySpace, or the other reboots, and to make it worse, these customizer sites lack HTTPS, turning an otherwis... » Continue Reading

Websites of a (micro)generation

Category: Life

It's without question that MySpace was the most popular of all, but can you remember other places that you frequented, that shaped and formed your identity, your expression, your musical and cultural taste, and were engaging, interactive, social? To me the following come to mind - most of them are gone, or changed their content, and reduced the community aspect: » Continue Reading

Corrected OG MySpace graphics! (Works with Firefox too!)

Category: SpaceHey

So, in the previous version of this , not everything worked on Firefox. After a good amount of tinkering, this seems to work (tested on Firefox for Android). body > div.container > main > div > div.col.w-40.left > div.general-about > div.details > p.online { visibility: hidden; } bod » Continue Reading

More OG MySpace graphics!

Category: SpaceHey

Updated and corrected to work with Firefox, check this post! I've posted about the "Online Now" animation in the previous one , so now here are some more hacks to imitate a more classic look: the stuff in the "Contacting" box, with a "Report User" image created from scratch. Was there anything like this originally? Idk, » Continue Reading

Slow social in 2020 and beyond

Category: SpaceHey

SpaceHey is doing something that might feel anachronistic in 2020, but is it? In 2020 we are used to fast interactions on our social networks, that constant buzz of our phones in our pockets, the deluge of likes, shares, retweets, comments, all repeated in threads and subthreads. We (doom)scroll for new impulses, we amplify, we boost, we block on a whim, we meticulously use the most hashtags possi... » Continue Reading

Is this a dream?

Category: SpaceHey

We've been anticipating The Rawring 20s, with everything taking off this year, albums, shows, everything, then corona happened. And now, here's a MySpace revived, done just as good as the original, classic version. I'm happy like the elder emo I was in the mid-late 2000s. And now this is here! I really need to revisit my profile editing skills. » Continue Reading
