I learned how to make early CGI! :D the easiest way is to simply find whatever software was used to make the CGI you see. For example, I want to recreate Final Fantasy VII's backgrounds. So I looked it up and it turns out that Square Enix used what is called SoftImage (now Maya) and PowerAnimator, both of which are no longer in use.
