" be an asker " "My mom was the one who taught me how to be insistent. When I was a kid and she was trying to change a flight reservation or persuade someone to do something she would spend literal hours on the phone—she’d just keep calling back until she found someone who would do it. At the time I found that super embarrassing, as kids do. But looking back, I see that I internalized something im... » Continue Reading
I was feeling low so I decided to bake a loaf of bread instead of trying to work while sleep-deprived. Baking bread is indeed therapeutic. I've been trying to use up some leftover buttermilk in a carton after making strawberry milk with just one cup of buttermilk. I made some mango "lassi" by blending up the buttermilk and two cheap alfonso mangos I got at the local bodega. It was decent. Apparent... » Continue Reading

My company is launching a mentorship program which I think is pretty cool. I'm participating as a mentee, but they shared some links about mentorship which I think may be useful to look back on when I have more opportunities to mentor others. https://www.xkyle.com/Being-a-Great-Engineering-Mentor/ https://xdg.me/mentor-engineers/ » Continue Reading
Grand Hot Pot Lounge is pretty cute. They have an ice cream buffet bar and help-yourself unlimited canned drinks (soymilk, grass jelly, etc). I liked the food as well. Raw scallops appetizer! I had good company and it was nice. » Continue Reading

That's how I stumbled upon embraceautism.com , which self-hosts a variety of autism self-assessment tests and discusses their reliability and accuracy. Here are some of my scores from the tests hosted » Continue Reading
Reading "Autistic Awakening" and related materials last night threw me in a little (small) crisis. 1 On one hand: "Is it possible I'm just a little autistic and a moderate ADHD-y and a little OCD and a moderate anxious (inc. socially anxious) and a some amount C-PTSD'd and a decent amount avoidant attachment style? And just a little tiny part BPD (the emotional dysregulation part) -- I » Continue Reading
Testing out sharing things that I'd normally share in a twitter thread here instead :O I watched Everything Everywhere All At Once a second time, this time with IMAX and without missing the first 10 minutes, and it was even better on a second watch. Another moment where I felt pure elation today occurred when I put on slippers I had ordered explicitly for use in the office. Such bliss! I also brou... » Continue Reading
I was never on myspace much as a teenager or preteen, which coincided with when it was still popular. 1 I was pretty antisocial and an internet hipster nerd and thought myspace and its normie plebeian crowd was kind of dumb. So I don't know a whole whole lot about what myspace was really like, but I'm somewhat surprised to have the impression that spacehey does a decent job of emulating the myspac... » Continue Reading
