diary entry #11

jeez, i don't even know where to start. the last few days have been truly insane. not an overreaction either. genuinely crazy.

tuesday-
me, my fiancé and my in-laws went back to the pool and had to once again interact with that side of the family. dad dropped us off and mom stayed with the dogs and did homework inside (she has a college degree already but is taking more classes to get extra certificates). well, as much as she could with nathan's grandma talking loudly on the phone the entire time. sitting right next to her at the table in the dining room, mind you. when we went back after swimming, we did our best to save her so she could finish her final. we ordered taco bell this time instead of sandwiches and, once again, nathan's grandma was PISSED. she's very much a person that wants people to do exactly what she says. if you don't then you're instantly wrong. the taco bell was good. family is exhausting though.

wednesday-
this day was the worst. i can't go into much detail, but we had a very traumatic family emergency that we are still recovering from. all i can say is that it was very scary, but everyone is okay. minimal injuries but still very scary. we had to drive to the doctor and get fixed up. the car ride there was eerily silent, but the drive back felt a bit better. it finally calmed down and we realized that we were all okay (physically, at least).

thursday (technically yesterday?)-
we didn't really do much today. mostly just recovering from wednesday and coming to terms with the fact that the whole situation even happened. it feels a bit unreal. definitely the kind of story that will pop up on a random holiday that makes everyone go "oh god, don't remind me" and laugh. we joked around about it today and everyone felt a bit better as the day progressed. 

we made an impulse trip to costco and they were OUT OF ICE CREAM !! i was so sad. i really wanted to try the new strawberry shortcake ice cream.... other than that, it was a good trip. costco is always packed though. i feel like almost everyone loses braincells as soon as they walk in there. i bumped into so many people and almost got hit by carts a couple of times.

that's really it i guess. the next few days i'm going to try to focus on relaxing and taking it slow. school is coming up fast. i start in september, ough. i'm so ready but not at the same time. taking it one day at a time.
