Hey guys, I've been here on this account for 2 years, my other account for a single one.
I'm going on 4 years and a lot has happened here.
Not knowledged or intelligent by any means, I just want to talk about the problems here that are issues in my opinion.
This blog does a better job explaining this.
Someone pointing out their callout evidence got deleted.
Moderators aren't paid enough to care.
1) Moderation & Censorship
I've noticed a decline in mod activity and the overall effectiveness of reporting users.
There was a gore account recently, nothing out of ordinary, but I'd say it took far too long to be removed.
It had been up for about 3 days, and I say that's not okay.
There are minors here who shouldn't have to see this, even if "it's the internet and violence is all over social media".
And people who call out other's disgusting behavior are the ones who are getting suspended, rather than the one who is participating in activities against the TOS.
Good people who actually try to help this site get censored and swept under the rug, predators and deviants run free.
2) An's Inactivity
For a bit it seems he's just stopped giving a damn about this website, just totally abandoned it's users and making the people here be the ones taking care of this failing platform.
Why do we have to be the ones to group together to remove the degenerates from this place? The moderators aren't doing nearly enough too.
I don't know what else to say aside from An is just a bum who's sitting on his ass and digging in it, while we all complain validly about issues here.
3) Predators & Men Being Creepy
Predators aren't knew, they will always be lurking.
But it's the job of An to not create a safe spot for them, this has unfortunately became a platform for pedophilia to be so common.
And for "proshippers" to be damn proud and friend other proshippers. Don't even fucking say these proshippers aren't predators in disguise.
Many women have spoken about men who are friending solely users with girls with themselves as their icon.
While not entirely problematic, it's weird.
Though it does turn to a major issues when those men are contacting these women and harassing them, some are just teenage girls and yet these middle aged men target them.
4) User's Making Accounts To Just Leave A Week Later
This isn't the most awful issue, it's still majorly annoying.
I see a lot of people go here, make an introduction blog and are super active for like a few days or so before they ultimately haven't been online in like 26 days.
And it remains like that.
It's a problem to me that users just make accounts that bloat this website just to leave soon after.
For people who don't end up leaving, they don't contribute to blogs or bulletins but just stack their friends with similar aesthetics.
How could one have more than 200 friends here? And to especially never interact with them.
5) This Isn't An Old Internet Revival
While this UI may seem to be identical to MySpace, the users treat this place like any other social media platform.
These teens aren't using the site like it was made for, why are we just here to make a pretty (ugly) profile and to gain as much friends as possible? Where is the joy?
What more is there to you than the amount of people you've got added? If you aren't writing blogs or bulletins, messaging and crap.
It's utterly ridiculous, you've got a profile here and pretend this is Twitter or TikTok.
You don't need a bunch of friends here, especially if you aren't engaging.

Anyways this is just an angry rant, I'm not contributing much and what I'm saying isn't clever or unheard of.
Just sharing my opinions on what I believe is wrong with this site.
But I'll never quit this platform, even after drama I've been in and the drama I'll continue to witness.
Unless this site shuts down.
This blog overall is out of sorts.

I still believe in the good of this platform and will try to apply for a moderation role as soon as I'm able (damn four-month wait) to keep it going as strongly as possible...
... But yeah, between blogs going unread despite updating a lot (even though I'm ok with that) and getting creepy messages, most of the shine has been sadly erased since.
It's still miles better than Instagram's fake cheerfulness and inferiority complex parades, Facebook's slow, agonizing death and Twitter's self-perpetuating sewer landscape, though -- and that alone is enough to keep me going.

I left space hey after being rlly active cuz nothing happened… and I know i need to go and interact and stuff but I’ve mainly been writing blogs and no one reads them (pls go check mines out or smth.. most r album reviews tho) and yeah, but like every social media platform theres gonna be pedos, but mods should do better.

It really bothers me that most of the profiles I find don't have blogs to read. That's supposed to be why we're here. Even if I don't have much to say myself, I love writing blogs and I plan to write many more about my daily life.

I agree with everything, including about the users; most are just here to decorate their profile. I wish the Spacehey UI started on the main screen and also had videos in addition to blogs. Now that would be the internet revival.

My roomie got their acc suspended and deleted after making a comment on someone's hateful blog. They called them out for n/zi behavior, and got their acc snapped shortly after, no proper warning or explanation. They sent out email after email, nothing.
Sucks cuz they were working hard on coding their page.. It looked reaallyy good!
Now I'M even nervous to say anything on here, negative or not..

I would also add that SpaceHey has to compete with platforms like insta and TikTok and X and even YouTube which are designed to addict you and give you alll the dopamine you need. It’s social engagement on the internet vs a manufactured technology drug. The kids are poisoned. I think we all (and the kids who only grew up on these internet drugs as opposed to really social networking) wish for a place online to express ourselves and get to know people and share in the arts, but we have to battle the algorithms which addict us with our own dopamine. Not only that but everyone is on those apps, this is a battle against the norm and for the better

i fully agree + why are there too many scammers too
like when i had my 1st profile here (would be a year ago, deleted cuz bad memories), there werent any kind of commission beggers here
but a year later, as if they increased in exponential rate like
there was one that i actually felt pity, saying that they had no money to even feed thair cats
but i looked at their social media pages, they had NOTHINNNN
and i was saying that the max i can comm is 10$
so later i got sus and declined
later, 3 or 4 other scammers added me here
and one of them DIRECTLY told me "could u comm me for 10$"

this happened to me too! i felt bad for them but also had a bad feeling about actually comissioning them. i did keep saying i couldnt afford it rn but they kept trying to guilt trip me TwT. ended up blocking them. makes me feel a bit better to hear that they were most likely a scammer.

i do agree with all of your statements BUT, i dont understand the problem with trying to make your profile look cute? and some people are probably only here to talk to their 3-4 irl friends on spacehey instead of other social media's so it was lowk a bit odd to say that people are only here for the aesthetics :|
I didn't say everybody is here for aesthetics, and that it's bad to make your profile nice. It's just an issue to me when people are solely there for that and just add people who have nice layouts rather than wanting to know the person for otherwise, this is a social platform.

I don't understand the last two. Spacehey isn't the algorithmic kind of place thats supposed to keep you engaged and online constantly. wdym being offline for 21 days is a problem - thats why I'm here at all for example, its one of the few social media I didn't completely block off because it doesn't suck up my time. And its literally supposed to mimic MySpace - now I don't know what that was like but if it was this whole spending time in html/css, styling - then so be it, thats fun. I'm starting to think kids should be ban for having any type of technology ATP bc one of the biggest problem is the fact the parents just refuse to monitor their kids for their safety. Just give the kids a flip phone/dumb phone without access to social media. That'll solve everything

A big reason why the modern Internet sucks is due to the consequences of trying to protect kids. COPPA, censorship of swearing and serious words, UK implementing age verification, etc. The reasoning behind it isn't inherently bad, but most of the time all these new rules end up removing/making things more strict for every user. It sucks because all these issues could've been prevented if parents were more knowledgeable about online safety.

there needs to be well moderated spaces for kids and also poorly moderated spaces for adults, this used to be the standard, but now everything is trying to cater to everyone and ends up being awful for everyone

Literally, and the people or person who made the site, doesn’t care to do much about, probably abandoning it as well,
Which is a big shame, but at the same time this was made as a collage project, that got so big, but that doesn’t mean you can’t do much!
I hope something can be done, and no more minors get hurt, oh and no more gore and shock content users.
Same I hope more can be done :-(
