I can't even begin to say how much this album simply consumed me this summer. I had been looking forward to the next capstan release since I first saw them live in January with Holding Absence. I'm shocked that I wasn't aware of them before that, somehow, but better late than never, right? In my substack blog post on Cabaret Core I was excited to hear Capstan's new album and wha » Continue Reading

Idk if imma do album of the week or of the month or of the several days, but today's is Doing Just Great by Ivory Daze ! Genre: alternative rock, grunge, shoegaze. My favorite song off this album is Deceive. Ivory Daze is a 3 piece band from Lincoln, Nebraska. I got to see them play live in Sacramento the other week and loved it. Had a good convo with the drummer a bit between sets. If you like t... » Continue Reading

I like the parallels between Love from the Other Side and So Much (for) Stardust. "what would you trade the pain for." I'm not the person to go into depth about fab lore, because I honestly don't know much about it and I'm having trouble analyzing things because I'm too busy having "thought we had it all, thought we had it all, thought we had it all, thought we had it all" looping in my head. Hone... » Continue Reading

Pierce the Veil's most noticeable lyrical theme to me is the theme of car crashes. All the way from A Flair from the Dramatic up to the Jaws of Life. Who was in a car crash? I appreciate the music videos from A Flair for the Dramatic, and the music video for JoL is kinda disappointing, lol. just a bunch of b-roll. It looks cool, but I just found it boring. There isn't much movement, maybe there's ... » Continue Reading

I'd really like to hear pierce the veil cover a chiodos song. i'm thinking something off all's well that ends well (We're Gonna Have Us a Champagne Jam) or something off Bone Palace Ballet. If i gave some thought to the lyrics, i'm pretty sure i'd find a song that overlaps with some of ptv's lyrical themes. » Continue Reading

okay, so... i don't really have a method i'm going by, but i'm trying. like, i don't even know if it's post-hardcore, but that's what i'm inspired by. i'd like to be able to use some of my favorite songs as a template, but i end up doing things freeform, it's not like poetry. maybe it is. i'm just not one for following templates for creativity, i go off-script, which is good, but it sucks when my ... » Continue Reading
