nice parallels

Category: Music

I like the parallels between Love from the Other Side and So Much (for) Stardust. "what would you trade the pain for." I'm not the person to go into depth about fab lore, because I honestly don't know much about it and I'm having trouble analyzing things because I'm too busy having "thought we had it all, thought we had it all, thought we had it all, thought we had it all" looping in my head. pierce the veil lyrical themes + JoL mv

Category: Music

Pierce the Veil's most noticeable lyrical theme to me is the theme of car crashes. All the way from A Flair from the Dramatic up to the Jaws of Life. Who was in a car crash? I appreciate the music videos from A Flair for the Dramatic, and the music video for JoL is kinda disappointing, lol. just a bunch of b-roll. It looks cool, but I just found it boring. There isn't much movement, maybe there's ... » Continue Reading

ptv x chiodos?

Category: Music

I'd really like to hear pierce the veil cover a chiodos song. i'm thinking something off all's well that ends well (We're Gonna Have Us a Champagne Jam) or something off Bone Palace Ballet. If i gave some thought to the lyrics, i'm pretty sure i'd find a song that overlaps with some of ptv's lyrical themes. » Continue Reading

writing post-hardcore music

Category: Music

okay, so... i don't really have a method i'm going by, but i'm trying. like, i don't even know if it's post-hardcore, but that's what i'm inspired by. i'd like to be able to use some of my favorite songs as a template, but i end up doing things freeform, it's not like poetry. maybe it is. i'm just not one for following templates for creativity, i go off-script, which is good, but it sucks when my ... » Continue Reading

Hail the Sun is pretty cool

Category: Music

Yeah. That's it. Oh yeah, The Fall of Troy as well. They have somewhat of a similar sound to them to me. I like Hail the Sun's rhyme schemes tho and alliteration , like, i like analysing different rhythms and rhyme schemes. I really like internal rhyme, but somehow i keep falling into end rhyme, but today i'm trying to break that. Not sure how messed up this poem is gonna be. » Continue Reading

variety in post-hardcore sound

Category: Music

I like the variety of vocals within post-hardcore there's the Anthony Green type vocals, then there's the deathcore type vocals, then there's whatever la dispute is doing, it's pretty cool. only that i want more female vocalists (and poc representation... there's some, but i'd like to see more) » Continue Reading

new ptv album

Category: Music

people complaining that ptv's new album is so different from their old stuff and that their old stuff is better... um. wonderless and flawless execution have a very similar vibe. also, musicians are allowed to experiment with their sound, it doesn't necesarily make their music worse. » Continue Reading

on the two TREOS albums

Category: Music

okay, so usually people compare the two TREOS albums because there was quite a shift between the two. the vocalist changed, and that's kinda a big deal. i'm not gonna go into massive detail because i still have their documentary to watch as well as really reading the cd pamphlets, but here's my opinion so far. the albums are different, and comparing them isn't very fair. i understand that the comp... » Continue Reading

post-hardcore is fun but...

Category: Music

i like post-hardcore bands and am trying to go through some older ones, but it's so hard to find some of their old content. at least some bands still have a bandcamp, but for those who don't and  their content isn't on youtube... i just want to know. i want to find more of what i like so i can create more of what i like. » Continue Reading
