I want to serve in the military but I'm not allowed

I am too young to serve in the military at the moment but when I finish highschool I want to do the mandatory military service. I am allergic to almonds and therefore I am not allowed to serve. My parents don't agree with me and say I should focus on my education but I can always go to college after. I don't understand why this is an issue as I want to make my country proud.
