I want to serve in the military but I'm not allowed

I am too young to serve in the military at the moment but when I finish highschool I want to do the mandatory military service. I am allergic to almonds and therefore I am not allowed to serve. My parents don't agree with me and say I should focus on my education but I can always go to college after. I don't understand why this is an issue as I want to make my country proud. I also see the military service as a time to focus on myself, become more disciplined and learn something new.

At my old school people from the military came and talked about what you do there and what the qualifications are. They said if you have a nut allergy or are gluten intolerant they will reject you.
