Day 53 of improving myself for my own sake but an hour earlier to account for power outages

Ok, this is very early but I got most of my tasks done for the day. I did them very reluctantly though because heat wave. Ugggggg. Whatever though, it's evening now so it's getting cooler.

Exercise - did some very light exercises today because, again, it was a heat wave today and I really didn't have it in me to do anything more. I also indulged slightly in some unhealthy snacks but listen they were mine that I've been saving and my sister wanted to eat some of my snacks and they are mine so I had to have a piece of it, right? I'm not against sharing but my rule is that if I share, I gotta have a piece of it because I don't have a disposable income and most of the time, I buy it with my own money. So, that's my justification for eating unhealthily.

Reading - read some of The Republic by Plato and I'm invested, I'm hooked. The book is essentially a conversation between Socrates and these others guys on what justice really means. I had trouble understanding it but I did something kinda stupid which really helped me. I read the book aloud to my sister and she didn't understand and j tried to explain it to her and through explaining it, I helped myself understand. Then, I ended up summarizing every paragraph for my sister and she got really annoyed, it sounded something like this. "Bro, no way Socrates just owned Thrasymachus dude!" "Oh ok, ok, Thrasymachus is kind of cooking with his argument, I see where he's coming from" "cmon, now Glaucon wants to be included in the argument, the dude wants to be included in everything!" Can you tell I'm a debater?

Writing - I finished my review, it's ready and it's about 2000 words, maybe 100 or 200 over. I'm happy with it and I thought I would have less to say on it but I actually had a lot to say on it. I'm really proud of what I wrote, I'm going to edit and publish it tomorrow.

Learn Something New - I already know a lot about the Renaissance but I decided to do some more research on the period since there was a heavy emphasis on human anatomy. I already knew the aims and influences and characteristics and a little more but I didn't know the techniques or anything. I do know that one famous Renaissance artist used to rob Graves and steal dead bodies to to learn anatomy, I think it was Da Vinci. I learnt about some of the techniques and how they made marble statues, it's actually really intricate and I always knew that Renaissance was about art and science intersecting but I never fully realized it until I saw how they made these carvings. I also learnt about how artists were trained and all that. It's really interesting how devoted they were to art, imagine stealing dead bodies for the sake of art. I wish I was an apprentice to someone, like a Renaissance artist or like a magician or a famous writer. I don't know, maybe that's a weird fantasy.

Guitar - I did not play today

Drawing - I didn't draw today, I'm a little lazy. You'd think I'd be motivated after reading up on my favorite art period or one of my favorites, I love art nouveau more. But yesterday, I drew a really good spread in my sketchbook, please please please ignore the pelvis, I promise I am not a pervert. I bet Da Vinci never had to excuse himself when he drew a pelvis. But like look at that solid snake Drawing! Look at that guy I drew at the very bottom, look at his shoulders!!! I drew so well. Listen, I'm allowed to pat myself on the back after being so harsh on myself for too long.

Spread

Do something - I didn't do anything too grand but after school, I went to this new ice-cream shop that I had no idea that it had opened up but I went in and it was alright but for some reason, it's next to another ice-cream shop that sells more and better stock, that's great marketing (you can't tell but I'm being sarcastic). I bought myself an ice-cream sandwich, I wanted a cornetto because that's the ultimate summer, beat the heat, treat but I wanted to try something new. Now, I crave a Cornetto but the summer is long and there's many Cornettos to be had in future.

Relaxation - I'm currently watching Derry Girls for Relaxation and when the power goes out, I'm probably gonna watch the sopranos or maybe even some anime. I don't know. Oh, I did listen to an album because I have to get 130k minutes on my next spotify wrapped. I listened to Velocity, Design, Comfort by Sweet Trip and I think they're better than Aphex Twin and Aphex Twin was in my top 5 for this year's wrapped. I want to highlight the song Dsco. I do recommend the whole album but some of the songs are a tiny bit abrasive.

Thank you for reading this. It's really hot today, I hope all of you in the Northern hemisphere don't take your cold weather for granted, I wish it was cold. I love Winter so much. I'd rather be freezing than endure a heat wave. It's like I'm out here in the desert, Lawrence of Arabia type deal. Why do people always reference that movie when they talk about heat waves. If you want a real heat wave movie, watch Dog Day Afternoon. Its a 1975 movie about a bank robbery and for some reason, it handles gender really well for a 1975 movie! That's really cool, there's some dated terms but there's actually some good trans representation in that movie and it has a pretty progressive take on everything it deals with. If that doesn't convince you, AL Pacino is the lead. I love that movie but it's too hot to watch a heat wave movie. Anyway, I'll write again tomorrow, I'm gonna watch The Sopranos now.
