I just watched the trailer for the new Garfield movie.

It looks ok. The animation looks nice, and does a good job translating the 2D art of the Garfield comics to a 3D, CGI environment. As absurd as it is hearing Chris Pratt's natural voice come out of Garfield, he does a good job in the role, in that he captures the snarky, jokey aspect of Garfield's character, and a few of his lines in the trailer are reasonably funny.

That being said, based on the trailer, it looks like the plot of this movie is gonna be Garfield and his dad wandering around and doing stupid crap, and we have enough animated kids' movie like that. In that regard, it looks rather generic. Also, on a unrelated note, I feel like they included the part with Garfield as a kitten to sell merchandise, but Garfield is such a cash cow that it's kinda to be expected. And just a nitpick, but why is it called The Garfield Movie, when there's ready a Garfield movie called Garfield: The Movie? Isn't that gonna get confusing? Why not just call it Garfield, or call it something stupid like Garfield's Wacky Adventure?

Keep in mind, this is from someone who isn't really a huge Garfield fan. I watched miscellaneous Garfield media when I was younger, and own season 1 of Garfield & Friends on DVD, but other then that, I don't really care much about Garfield. Maybe Garfield fans will like this movie, and it definitely has the advantage of being animated, because all live action movies based on cartoons suck, but I'm probably not gonna watch it.
