First impressions:
Honestly, I didn't enjoy it that much. I was pretty bored throughout the whole thing, even though it's just 42 minutes. I get why people like it, it just doesn't really speak to me. That's not to say I don't like any music in this vein, but little in this album stood out to me. It wasn't depressing enough to warrant the slowness- it just didn't do it for me. I enjoyed the lyrics though. I thought they were sweet and touching. The opening track was also great. I might give it another go some other time.
I've yet to hear most of Sufjan's discog (heard Illinois and liked it a lot, plus a few tracks off Carrie & Lowell).
