Sonnet for a moa

Could I, the dodo, ever get around

To telling you, the moa, how I feel

We two are flightless birds that once abound

But lineages have been made a meal

And what a perfect couple we could make

Despite our differential kinds of size

I'll take the moa rowing on the lake

And see Dark Emu reflect in your eyes

The dodos mourn the moas infinite

And in return the moas mourn as well

But of a feather now we creatures are

I watch the sunrise under moa's spell

If all could be erased we'd wave our wings

It led to joyous, melancholy things
