I didn't forget to write yesterday but I did not get the chance to. I got home at about 10pm and from there I had something else that I needed to do. Anyway, I think yesterday was productive but I do first need to look back in retrospect before I can safely say such a statement.
I'll start off by saying that I actually had a good, hearty breakfast today but I did not eat lunch. In place of lunch, I had cake because it was someone's birthday whom I have never met but I went with my friend because he knew her. Then we got KFC for dinner and it was pretty good I guess. So, not the healthiest but I still ate three meals and that's a win in my book.
I actually started writing in my commonplace book yesterday. I didn't know what to write to so, I just wrote down a few quotes, one from Kafka and one from the ending of Metal Gear Solid 2. The "life isn't just about passing on your genes" speech because it's really beautifully written. Then for some reason, I learnt about dreams and how they intertwine with philosophy and phenomenology which is basically just emphasizing the subjective, personal experience and we all experience the world differently from each other. It's pretty interesting stuff, I reccomend looking into phenomenology.
I did write yesterday. Though, I had to write it all again. Also my commonplace book doesn’t count as writing, I mean writing in a more professional way. I wrote a tumblr blog detailing my trip to the beach, it was (like all my posts) really long and I wrote it over the course of my morning, I never write it all in one go because then I get lazy at the end and that causes me to sacrifice quality. So, I saved it as a draft and finished it slowly but then I forgot to save my final draft and published an unfinished one. I saw that I posted my unfinished draft and instead of editing it, I accidentally deleted it and I had to start from nothing. When I got home at 10pm, I told myself I'd write a summarized version of it but ended up writing for an entire hour and the length ended up being roughly the same as the one that I deleted.
I went out so obviously, I did my hygiene. I did however, also cut my nails. They were really long and I wanted to grow them because that would look nice but I cant stand long nails. I always tell myself to grow it out and then I end up clipping them. I do need to shave though, my facial hair always bothers me, it's so itchy. I did my usual skincare, the normal stuff people do.
I didn't watch anything yesterday. I don't know why. I did forget to detail in my last post that I watched this movie called Hedwig and the Angry Inch and it was fine. I loved the settings and the music. There's this one song called wicked little town and it's so good. Every trans person has a different experience of course but I was slightly unhappy with it's portrayal of gender or lack thereof, I wish gender was touched on more because there are points where the movie wants to explore those topics but then doesn't. I do still recommend that anyone watch it. I was gonna watch 10 Things I Hate About You yesterday but I didn't have the chance, maybe because I was up until 11pm writing.
Of course, I read some Kafka too. It was good chapter and since it was so short and the next chapter looks really long, I read a tiny bit more than one chapter.
Thank you all for reading this one. My piece of advice for this entry is to start writing, you can write whatever the hell you want, but make sure it's yours. I mean make it about as subjective as you possibly can, even if your writing reviews, make it subjective. Objectivity is boring and nobody wants to read that, in actual fact it makes me angry seeing those reviews on tiktok where people try to be as objective as possible, people want to hear and see your experience. I also recommend checking out the mgs 2 ending speech. Also, I asked one of my favorite video essayists a question and they responded, I asked them for some writing advice and they actually responded to me.
Ive got a question this time, should I drop my tumblr account? Would you guys be interested in reading what I write on there?
