yearning

yearn•ing

/ˈyərniNG/

noun

1. the way i look at you and the first thought across my mind is “i love you,” no matter what you do. tell me about the mundane things. i treasure the words you speak as they fall off your tongue like theyre turning into a pile of gold at my feet.

2. the way i wonder if you look at me and think you love me, too.

3. the way the moon wants the sun to just see her beyond a glance. i am the moon, you are the sun. your smile lights a room and your passion bubbles under the surface and i can see it beneath your skin. i cant take my eyes off you, even for a second (and i wouldnt if i was given a choice). and my hands are cold. without the touch of your fingertips and the warmth of your gaze i cant be seen. im an afterthought. the only thing i can do is reflect your blinding light.

4. the way you dont look at me and think “i love you.” no matter how much i wish you did.

5. the way you dont see how im cracking under the weight of how you dont know. did you ever need me in the same way i need you? youre morning coffee, youre the adrenaline high after a concert, youre eating and sleeping and breathing all at once. im the shirt buried in your dresser drawer you wish you never bought, that you look at and wonder what you ever saw in it. i wonder that too. did you ever see anything in me?

6. the way these words can never really describe how it feels to want you this much.
