Today, we were on the machines! I was surprised at the amount of people who had never used a sewing machine before, must've been half the class at least. None of us had ever used an industrial sewing machine before, but there were only 13 industrial sewing machines, so four people had to use domestic. I was on one of the industrials, which are incredibly complex (over complex in my opinion) to thread! They are also extremely fast, a lot of people seemed to struggle at first, its like taming a beast XD I did struggle with my bobbin and sewing round corners, but I learnt to backstitch which I had never done before, I'll have to learn to do that on Mum's sewing machine because it saves you having to tie the ends up.
We then went to the fresher's fair and had a quick break afterwards, then we carried on with the sewing machines. Eventually I got the hang of the bobbin, I was still struggling with trying to control the speed of the machine, as there's no way of slowing it down unless you put your foot on the pedal very lightly, but the pedal is so sensitive that any slight change in pressure sends you flying!
Lunch rolled around and I went to Greggs with (I don't know if this is her name) Elisha who was very nice! We sat in the park and ate our food but unfortunately I made us late due to eating slowly. When we got back to class, we just continued with sewing.
