Is Tweeting just blogging with a tiny word limit?

Ever since I've started using this site and began reading blogs I noticed a similarity in how people sound on here and on Twitter, especcialy when they are being volatile and venting. 

I never got into blogging. Never understood the concept, always viewed it as a seperate thing from posting facebook status or tweeting. But from the way people talk, here and compared to other sites... tweeting and all that similar shit is just blogging with minor distinctions. If I had to guess why tweeting took off as a concept is that people online honestly just enjoy eating more bite-sized portions, as if the internet just reduced their attention spans by half and more whenever they're online. 

Honestly, though? I get it.
