I've been browsing Spacehey for a while and noticed that a lot of the people under 20 are really into pre-2010's/1990's stuff, especially MCR, The weird glitterpunk aesthetic (y'know the one with all the pink and black color scheme with an excessive amount of sprakles and glitter, what is it even called?), RAWR XD aesthetic, Aggressively pink ang girly, goth culture etc. etc ad nauseum. Thing I want to know is, where the hell are all the Avril Lavigne kids?
I remember she used to be THE Rebellious teenage girl. She was the artist for almost every type of clique (she was goth, she was punk, she was a rockstar, she had a tomboy "one-of-the-boys", she had, dare I say, talent?), Her music and her aesthetic had massive appeal to everyone and she was everywhere, even here in the Philippines dudes would have a poster of her up in their rooms even in the severly rural areas without paved roads somehow. So I'm kind of suprised that none of these nostalgic kids have placed her anywhere close to MCR's Gerard Way on the pedestal of nostalgia. You'd think she'd be the ideal template for the alt-pick-me girl of this age but I guess she just didnt catch on with the new gen?
Guess thats just how things go, and not everyone's legacy/memory can stand against the passage of time. Best we, old fans of bygone idols, can do is try to preserve that idea we used to have of them and try to push their legacy to the new generation in hopes that they might be inspired to make something new and wholly original from it. Anyone feel the same way?

i'm an avril lavigne fan but i also have been literally since i was like, 2 years old. i've been listening to her stuff since birth thanks to one of my sisters so i grew up loving her stuff. but avril still makes music (and it's shitty music now) so i guess a lot of younger people don't see her as old/cool enough or something?
