aftermath (sequel to drowning) [tw]

the aftermath is the only thing people will ever acknowledge. "oh, you have scars" not, "oh, you're going through something" they'll never notice it when it's happening, no matter how loud you scream, they never notice until it's almost nothing. you have a scar, your scar has a story. but all they will notice is the fleshy line across your skin. they won't acknowledge your hurt until it's over. they are always to scared to dive into the ocean you're drowning in, in fear that they too will be pulled under. they float perfectly above the water while ignoring those being pulled under by their own currents and knocked down by their own waves. they'll never notice until your either one with the ocean or you've pulled yourself afloat, with no help from them.
