I hate how being "alternative" is so watered down now days

This is just a big rant lolz

I hate the fact that being alternative is more of a trend now days.

I hate how people think it's not that bad to be a poser (not listen to the right music, you don't believe in the political opinions of what the subculture is even about in the first place etc etc).

I hate how I can't even find genuine alternative friends because they all listen to whatever "alt" music is popular and whatever "alt" trend gets popular on tik tok.

I hate how grunge and y2k got so popular that I'm certain that no one actually knows what real grunge and y2k is about.

I hate how I get bullied for being emo by people who claim to be "alt".

I hate how even if you're genuinely a part of some subculture people who don't know shit about said subculture will call you a poser because you don't listen to the exact same artists/bands that are commonly associated with said subculture (people r allowed to have a large music taste y'know? Not everyone is the same).

I hate how it's always "be yourself" until you're genuinely an alternative person.

I hate how alternative people are never even represented well in media anyway (yes I know that's not always the case ).

AND I HATE THE FACT THAT BEING ALT IS SUCH A FUCKING TREND PEOPLE WHO CLAIM TO BE ALTERNATIVE DONT EVEN KNOW WHAT SUBCULTURE MEANS
