27/07/2023 - 28/07/2023 - Joe (my uncle on my dad's side) came to pick me up after an extremely slow drive from Cambridge to our house (due to a crash on the main road and various traffic jams), it must've been about 8 o'clock at night by the time he arrived. When he was driving me back to his house, we drove through a storm, the sky and the clouds were red, almost crimson in colour and there was heavy rain, but there was also a rainbow! It was very dramatic and really quite a spectacle. The ride back was smooth.
When we arrived at the house, Alice (his partner) and Finn (their eldest son) welcomed me and showed me one of their cats, Jasmine (we don't know what breed she is, she looks a bit like a tabby who is saving up to get their other sleeve done), who is quite old and has been losing weight. She let me pet her, which they said doesn't usually happen with strangers, I must be a cat whisperer! Felix (their other son) was a little shy and kept looking at me from behind a chair. After a chat with Alice and Joe, we all went to bed. My room was at the top of the house, the mattress was pretty solid which I wasn't used to.
I woke up at around 5:30 to Jasmine meowing outside, and at around 5:40 I got up and went downstairs, I didn't know if it was a meow of distress or what, but she just wanted food. I let all three of the cats in: Jasmine, Smudge (a big white cat, he's essentially a cloud with legs) and Moxy (also a big cat but black, he's mostly just a void except for his green eyes). Moxy and Smudge's food was already there from last night, so they got straight to eating, but Jasmine's food I didn't know where it was being kept so I just sat down and gave her a few treats that were on the table.
Joe came down and showed me where everything was and how to feed Jasmine. Her teeth weren't so good so she had soft food, poor thing was on medication as well, but luckily I just had to put a small amount onto her food and mix it in, so nothing complicated. Joe and I sat down and had a chat and a hot drink. Eventually Finn and Felix came down and we had a few rounds of Rummy, which I miraculously won despite it being my first time playing with cards. We then played another game called Dobble and then a game of Uno.
We then went out, Joe showed me where the convenience store was and how to get to Sainsbury's and Mill Road. The boys were given 5 minutes to play in this rather derelict play area next doors to Sainsbury's. When we got back to the house, we all had breakfast and just carried on chatting.
At around 3pm, Joe, Alice and the boys were ready to leave and I was left in charge of the house. I didn't really do much for the rest of the day, although I did finish a drawing. The cats were fine, they were all well behaved. For dinner, I just had instant noodles with spam.
29/07/2023 - I was once again woken up my Jasmine's meowing at around 5:30. My parents were coming over to visit and take me shopping. They arrived at around 12 and walked me to the Grafton Centre and then to Lion's Yard. When we were walking to Grafton, we stopped in a small Japanese restaurant just outside the main shopping area, I had a tempura and teriyaki chicken bento, which was actually a lot, I managed to get the biggest meal and Dad had to help me eat the rest of mine. This was also the first time I had bubble tea/ boba, which was really nice! I had a mango flavoured drink with passion fruit flavoured popping bubbles.
After that, we looked round some of the shops then headed to Lions Yard. Mum and I headed to TKMaxx and Dad went off somewhere else. I went a bit ham in TKMaxx and bought more Halloween stuff. TKMaxx's Halloween section is great, I love it so much, I got two spooky blankets, a skeleton duvet cover and pillow cases set and a Ouija board pillow. I went feral, quite honestly. The bag was very veryyyyy heavy though, and when Mum and I went to meet up with Dad, we couldn't find him and I was getting tired from holding the bag, as well as overheating in the sun. We must've been waiting for half an hour at least, which was annoying.
When Dad finally showed up, we then caught a bus back to the Sainsbury's near Mill Road, which was super helpful and saved a 15-20 minute walk. We also bought some food from Sainsbury's as I needed some meals for the week. After that, we went back to the house and had a cuppa and a chat, Smudge came in to say hi, then my parents went home. I watched the first few episodes of Buffy The Vampire Slayer and I really enjoyed it! It was a lot less alternative than I thought it was gonna be but that's probably why it got so popular.
30/07/2023 - Same as usual, got up due to Jasmine meowing. Grandma was coming over to visit which I was looking forward to. I hadn't seen Grandma in a while. She arrived at the house at around 11-12 ish, I wasn't expecting her to arrive in the car! We went to the nearby Sainsbury's and sat in the Starbucks or Costa or whatever coffee shop they have there. There apparently used to be a canteen there, where you could have proper meals (like roasts or pies etc).
We each had a toastie and a hot chocolate, the hot chocolates were huge! We only had regular and they were massive! We had a chat as well and it was just nice to catch up on things. Also the staff were very nice! After that we went into the Sainsbury's and bought some cakes and biscuits. We also got some stuff for the bites as I had started getting bitten by something, presumably fleas, overnight.
We went back to the house and had a cup of tea and ate some of the cakes and had a chat. It was really nice to catch up!
31/07/2023 - I fed the cats and I went to make myself some tea and breakfast and I heard a noise. When I turned around, Jasmine had a hair ball and pooped at the same time. I'm not sure what happened but I soon got it cleaned up, I think she was just a little stressed. Other than that, nothing else really happened except for more Buffy and more bites.
01/08/2023 - 04/08/2023 - - I left Smudge in the night before and he did something to the doormat at the back door. I'm not sure what he did, but he had done something, I messaged Joe and he told me to just pop it into the shed.
I went to the Beehive Centre at some point, and once again went feral in TKMaxx. I bought some Halloween decor there. I then went to Hobbycraft and bought a skull jar with a straw, a poison bottle and a plain jar for my jewellery. I then went to Asda and bought myself some pasta sauce and milk.
On another day, I walked to the town centre and bought a necklace from a stall, then went to the Grafton centre and bought a shirt in New Look. I got a Greggs pizza, which was surprisingly good! I'd never had a Greggs pizza before and it was nice! I then walked back towards Lion's Yard and went into Heavenly Desserts and had a raspberry and white chocolate croffle (a fusion between a croissant and an American waffle). It was weird going into a restaurant/ food place and eating in on my own. I got back to the house via bus.
Other than that, more Buffy and more bites.
05/08/2023 - Joe and his family returned in the late morning and as the boys were running around the house, I spotted that one of the cats had pooped on a pile of blankets. I'm not sure which cat it was but it was either Smudge or Jasmine as Jasmine had stayed in the previous night and Smudge kept getting in, and it turns out he had broken the cat flap which was supposed to only let the cats out and not let them in, but Smudge is a big naughty cat XD
Joe thanked me for looking after the house and apologised for the bites and the cats causing mayhem, which they didn't really, it was just a few accidents and the biting was just bad luck. Mum and Dad came and picked me up and Dad got pissed at me for not wanting to house sit again for the entire week as right after I finished house sitting, we were to drive straight to Wales, which I didn't like. I never liked this plan and I had no say in it, eventually we settled on the agreement that I would house sit for the entire week and not go to Wales.
06/08/2023 - Me and Robin met up and went to our local Heron Foods to buy a drink and as we were stood waiting in line for the till, a rather dishevelled looking man came into the store and asked the cashier for a fag (a cigarette). The cashier said she'd give him one later. He then asked if they sold steaks (I've got vampires on the brain and got very confused for a sec lmao) and told the cashier that he thought they had lost some steaks??? Then two people knocked on the window and the man left and the two people came in and asked if the store had lost about five steaks as they had found like five steaks discarded outside??? They then left and the cashier called for some assistance to go and look. I have no idea what was going wrong, the whole situation just didn't make sense??? If someone had stolen the steaks, why would they then just discard them like five metres away from the shop? Was it a really weird distraction that didn't really work because only one member of staff went outside? I literally have no clue what was going on, and neither did Robin, but we got to pay for our drinks and leave safely.
