First Reads: The Most Good You Can Do

Foreword: I decided to refine my reviews a bit. Now you will see two dedicated sections on whether you should read this book, and if you should borrow it, or buy it physically. As someone who wants to get away from addictive technology more, I will not consider ebook or audiobook versions (I haven't ever used them anyway). Btw, how do you guys feel about 5 star ratings that services like Goodreads use? Do you use them, and how if you do?

Review
If you want to know how to make the most good out of your money, this is the book. It's a bit outdated in places, but it doesn't distract from the main points of the book. You may not agree with every single part of Mr. Singer's specific views on what you should contribute your money on, and that is fine. The main purpose of this book is to get you to think more critically on how you are being charitable, with philosophy, psychology, and studies to boot. The book offers several resources on how to get into being an effective altruist (Though I have yet to check them myself, so exercise a bit of caution). It's short length also lends it another strength. If you are worried about this being a time sink, you can get through this book in around a week or two, reading a chapter or two a day. The book gets through what it needs to in that length in my opinion.

Overall Recommendation: If you are looking into donating or helping the world/community, but don't know where to start, read this book. I think its very helpful, it's lessons are long-standing, and won't take up too much of your time.

Buy it or Borrow It?: I have borrowed this book for this reading, and for its short length, you can definitely borrow it from a library and get through before the renewal period. That being said, if you do buy this physically, even hardcover versions of this book are pretty cheap to come buy if you don't mind buying used on Amazon.
