How to Support Your Local Pride Parade

Everyone knows what a pride parade is. It's a congregation of LGBTQ+ community members and allies in order to celebrate who they are and their accomplishments as a whole. However, some may not know how to go about supporting their local pride parade. 

Misleading information, difficulties in organization, and counter protests plague pride parades and their organization, among other complications. Fear not, however! For this guide shall be your usher to a safe and enjoyable pride!

Within the United States, Canada, and U.K., among other countries you will often be able to easily find preestablished pride events. These events often are already organized by large organizations and charities. These are the best events to attend, as they are often coordinated with the city and thus have security measures taken in order to protect attendees.

Attending one of these pride celebrations can be as simple as just showing up. Your presence is enough to help the queer community be seen! However, there are other things one can do in order to give an even bigger helping hand to pride. Bring a sign to show your support for the queer individuals around you. Buy merchandise made by a member of the LGBTQ+ community to support them. Find a unique or creative way to support and uplift those around you, anything can and will help!

Finding information about your local pride parade can be fairly easy. Going online to find information is the easiest way to become informed. Major cities will often have information about their local pride through a quick Google search. Those that live in communities that have a smaller queer community will often be able to find those of the likes on social media such as Facebook and Instagram. 

Those that do not have any local pride or LGBT community they are aware of can even go about making their own pride event within their community. Finding local supporters and LGBTQ+ community members, meeting at an agreed place and time, and protesting and parading in favor of the queer community can be a helpful way to contribute to worldwide pride.
