Hey hey, so a bunch of people friend-requested me before I really even had my page set up ;w;
That's fine, but also I think I fit the criteria for at least one of the DNIs of someone who asked to friend me? (maybe???)
If you have a weirdly specific DNI criteria, I probably either meet it or don't care about avoiding people who meet them. Like "dni if you like DSMP" "dni if you read Homestuck" "dni Hazbin Hotel/Steven Universe/Undertale/*insert any popular thing here* fans" ect ect my sweet summer child I casually consume any media put in front of me and you may be chronically online if you think you can actually pinpoint someone's exact personality based on what media they consume. Honestly if I thought like that, I'd probably have "dni Animal Crossing fans" and "dni TrueCrime fans" on my page? I've seen some super unhinged AC fans and TrueCrime as a concept kinda weirds me out, but I've never really hung out with anybody who's into it, so maybe it's totally normal idk!
Listen to me. Listen to me. Everything is problematic. Literally everything. I refuse to keep throwing away my new hobbies just cuz somebody got hashtag cancelled on twitter. Ok? Bro. Bro. I am literally so tired of hiding my interests from everyone I meet in case they think I'm a horrible person. It isn't that deep. Literally nothing is that deep. Life is weird and chaotic and messy and it is literally impossible to constantly be on alert for in case you have to throw away your interests because oh teh noez whoopsie daisiy, somebody wasn't perfect for a second!!1!
I GET the idea of "Basic DNI Criteria" (although you should really specify what that means because I don't think I've seen a single DNI page that does), but the way more specific stuff? "Do not consume this highly popular media" is ???? Imagine telling someone dni if you watch football. Dni if you've ever had a pet goldfish. That's what you guys sound like.
Especially DSMP??? I'd understand if people said "dni if you watch Dream" or something like that (it'd still be silly, but it'd make much more sense), but the DSMP is just. It's a minecraft server. Lil Nas X was on the dsmp. I don't know who that is, but I think he's one of the various "internet darlings" like that Keanu Reeves guy. Guys you're telling me not to watch Philza Minecraft. PHILZA. MINECRAFT. He LITERALLY has splash-text referencing him in the game!! People from the DSMP regularly play in MCChampionship, is that problematic too?? Does that make anybody who's played on MCC problematic??? Are you telling me that Grian Hermitcraft is problematic??? Does that make Mumbo "Redstone Expert" Jumbo and everyone on Hermitcraft problematic by association??? Saying "dni if you watch DSMP" is tantamount to saying "dni if you like watching people play Minecraft on YouTube". I don't even watch people play minecraft anymore but I am NOT going to stop watching Just Roll With It: Riptide just because Charlie Slimecicle used to hang out with Quackity Las Navadas on a silly block game!!
Do you even know how complicated it was to watch DSMP when it was still a thing??? I'm pretty sure they closed the server down, but you basically had to decide "okay I'm either going to watch this one person's POV or flip between multiple POVs" or you had to dedicate HOURS to sitting and watching the VODs from multiple POVs so that you could have context to what was going on. Imagine trying to watch a soap opera, while being a character IN the soap opera, but you stumble through the wrong door and now you're in a horror movie about a demonic egg. I literally have not been able to set aside the time to watch QSMP because of how much a nightmare it was to keep up with DSMP. And I only ever watched like 2 or 3 different POVs back then??? I'd only watch 1 POV for QSMP and it's still too much for my pea brain.
I didn't intend to start ranting, and I'm sorry if this reads as aggressive, I don't mean it that way, I just??? Trying to understand the logistical nightmare of "dni if you watch DSMP", my brother in christ I don't know if you even know what that sentence means.

I don’t have the energy to reply to everyone TTwTT but I’ve read all of the replies so far! It’s interesting seeing more opinions on the DNI stuff, honestly :0

if i may throw my hat in the ring,
for me, “(media fans) dni” does not in anyway way mean i think that media is “irredeemable” or wtv ppl say. it just means i either used to be a fan of said content and have come to dislike it, or i just plain do not wanna see it. it’s less of a virtue signal or a “look how unproblematic i am !!” for me, and more of a easy way to curate my online space . might be kinda over the top hehe but whatcha gonna do
i do think in depth dnis can be a bit silly tho, and it’s proooobably easier to be bffs with the block button but ! whatever makes people feel safe and secure online i suppose. none of my business tbh with you

okok to answer your question, i'm pretty sure basic dni means like racists, ableists, pedos etc. also lots of people probably don't want dsmp fans interacting w them because of the racist stereotype around them which is understandable but rlly, not every dsmp fan is racist

THIS. I hate when people think that i support/stan the dsmp because i listen to a band one of the members happen to be in. And when i WAS a dsmp fan, it was absolute HELL trying to hide from my bestest of friends what used to be my hyperfixation. Love you so much for this, im friending you now

I've been trying to make more custom stamp things for my profile, I haven't gotten a LoveJoy stamp I'm satisfied with yet, but BROOOOOOO their vibes are SO .:☆*:･~。.:☆*:･ yknow?? Idk music genres, but it makes me think of like, old... rock? Pop punk?? But softer and more ?????? Music is so weird how do you even describe it lmao, every song I can think of off the top of my head sounds like the musical equivalent of that one "gently holds" hand-drawn emoji MANNNNN it's like... it's like the vibes when you're sad and you get a sweet treat, that sad sweet taste???? Google says they're Indie Rock, and I guess that tracks lmao but I swear their vibes are so ??? They sound like rock but the VIBES are so SOFT????? How they do that??? Amazing. Beautiful. 10/10 would listen on loop all day again XD

DNI's for stuff like SU and Undertale are especially silly, like my guy! This is a children's show and an indie videogame, both of which are like "ah yes, pacifism and being nice are good things" how are you gonna hate somebody for liking something like that?? TToTT
