The Childhood CLASSIC, Good Burger(1997)

SlipMoth's Movie Journal (01/06/23)

So I watched Good Burger (1997) and it was really nostalgic to me. This was my first time watching it but it's always been a part of my childhood, it was always playing in the background on some TV but I've never seen it until today. So here's my thoughts...

It's alright, I guess. Some parts of the movie were really funny and other parts were just redundant and I'm mostly talking about the character, Ed who is only written to be stupid until the very end of the movie but it still feels familiar and nostalgic, maybe it's because I watched a lot of Nickelodeon movies in my early childhood or maybe it's because it was written by Dan Schneider and I used to watch all his shows growing up but nowadays I have a disdain for him because of how poorly his shows have aged and how the cast were treated on the set. So when I saw his name in the credits, I thought this movie fall into those traps but, actually this was fine. You can still feel his presence lingering in the writing but it seems minimal.

I do really like how progressive this is for its time, like it was made in 1997 and it features a character in the first 5 minutes wearing a shirt that says " proud to be black " not to mention that this movie is accidentally anti capitalist and I also love the bromance, forget Romeo and Juliet, I want what Ed and Dexter have.

I wish I lived in this movie, i wish I could eat a good burger, I wish I worked at good burger, I wish Ed and Dexter were my friends. Anyway, fun movie, not a good one, not a bad movie but I had fun and I'm glad I watched and I give it...
