You cant treat teenagers like they're stupid if you want them to listen to you

Teenagers arent 3, and they aren't going to respond the way you want them to if you treat them like they are.

Tell them the risks involved in sharing personal information online. Tell them how easy it is for someone to figure out where they live with the smallest amount of info. Don't fucking tell them "Stop sharing info, you stupid fucking kid! Youre a child, you don't know what you're doing!"

Do you know what that makes teenagers do? As a former teenager, I'm fully experienced in what that makes teenagers do! It makes them do the OPPOSITE of what you tell them.

To adults reading: If you actually give a fuck about the teenagers on this website, act better. I'm not telling you to be BFFs with them, but stop treating 13 year olds like theyre a plague on a 13+ websites. If they act like 13 year olds, block them. Don't pretend you weren't like that at their age.

To teens reading: In order to tell the difference between a good adult and a bad adult, you have to be able to exist around good adults. Your boundaries always matter first, but if an adult doesn't want you to interact please listen.
