01| my first date story + reflection

Heres the story:

I was a freshman in college and I had just gotten the holy trinity of dating apps; tinder, bumble and hinge.

bumble was my favorite, so I was on there the most.

I had just read an article about some guy at my school re-creating our campus in minecraft (I'm a nerd) and I thought "OMG SO COOL". this is relevant..

I was swiping on bumble and I saw the guy from the article. (there was a picture of him in the article).

ofc I swiped and we matched. I said it's like meeting a celebrity and he was like "well then I think I should treat you to lunch to meet your fav celebrity" or something like that.

we made plans for the next week and the whole week he was like "the place were going is a surprise 😮"

in hindsight it's a horrible idea for a 18 year old girl to go on a date with a senior AND HAVE NO CLUE WHERE HES TAKING YOU!!!

Anyways we met up. I wore this tight tightttt dress that was super short and I wore nothing under. I love promiscuous clothing but I shouldn't have dresses like that on my first date

he rolled up with his car in front of my dorm and I hopped in. the first thing he said to me is "you smell good"... like thanks but what happened to "hi"? what about "hello"?

anyways, the surprise place was...Chipotle...

when we got out the car, I noticed he was shorter than me, like way shorter, 5'6 max. his profile said 5'8 and mine said 5'9 ( I was 5'9 at the time)

he lied about his height and it made the air thick. I wanted to get out of there so badly.

his personality was fine. he was really friendly and made sure it wasn't awkward. ultimately he suggested we leave 30 minutes into the date.

when I came back, my roommate was surprised that it lasted so short. I was gone for barely an hour.

it wasn't horrible but afterwards he texted me and told me he didn't expect me to be as tall as I was...then he ghosted me

(many) men always complain about women's height limits and expectations but if you're not a skinny blonde beautiful supermodel, (many) men don't want you if you're tall.

and it's even more sad because I generally don't have height preferences. I just don't want someone to be like 5'2 bc at that point I can't even reach your face and you will end up hugging my tiddies...

height is only a big deal for me cuz others make it a big deal...so sad

anyways...lesson learned. subtract 2 inched from people's height on dating apps. also, exaggerate your height if youre a tall woman.
