internet ramble

it feels a bit dumb complaining about it as someone that doesn't even really indulge in nsfw that regularly but it's ridiculous seeing the rest of internet sanitizing itself to hell and back "for the children" instead of just bringing back actual safe online spaces for children. what's the point of having websites intended for adults if you're not going to treat its users like adults...?

there is always a risk of children seeing things they shouldn't so long as they have internet access which is unfortunate but as a kid, i had a bunch of websites that were intended and suited for children that i could use and with some actual supervision (which with the amount of parental controls nowadays, is easy to implement) i would've been content restricted to using those and wouldn't have looked into things i shouldn't have at that age. but as far as i know they all either got axed or got wiped and redone for the usage of adults

like, maybe there's still some decent kid-friendly sites but nowadays because the internet is so centralized to social media, kids just flock there instead. if they're where they shouldn't be it's not the fault of people uploading inappropriate content or even the children for witnessing it, it's the parent's fuck up. doesn't mean everybody should be banned from saying the word fuck because people aren't monitoring their children like they should be

ultimately i know it's not about the children even, it's just advertisers, but with that all i could complain is "i wish corporations weren't so greedy" i'd much rather talk about how much that mobile devices have made bad parents into infinitely worse parents, it's genuinely a nightmare seeing people only reply to their children's pleas to take care of its needs with just giving it a phone. it honestly makes me want to cry, i feel like that should be considered neglect. people don't realize or just don't care how damaging it is for their development to do that
