So over the weekend I stayed at a friends house and watched all of Helluva Boss, the last three episodes of The Owl House, The Mario Movie, and Honor among thieves.
Helluva boss is really good, I found myself really feeling for Stolas, I love his story and want to see how that goes. I also loved Octavia because she was both relatable and very gender.
The Mario Movie was pretty much what I expected, Chris Pratt was awful, Jack Black was great, Charlie Day was pretty good. Anya Taylor Joy was worse than I expected. But despite all that I didn't hate the movie, it looked really good. And it was a goood bit of fun. But in the end, not really worth seeing if you aren't already a fan of Mario. If you are though, I'm sure you'll have a nice time.
As for Honor Among Thieves, I was pleasantly surpirsed. I was worried it was going to lean too hard on it's source material, but if you strip D&D from the movie there's still a movie there. That being said, it doesn't feel like it's tacked on either, it feels like a story that could realistically happen whithin a D&D game (aside from ignoring some of the rules, particularly around wildshape but who cares in the end?)
Okay I'm gonna talk about The Owl House now, it's available on yt last I checked so you may as well go watch it because SPOILERS
So I watched the last 3 episodes, and the biggest thing I noticed was the representation. The Owl House has always been good at that but this is the first time I've seen disney actually say the word bi. And have characters wearing pride pins, and characters that explicitly say they use they/them pronouns. And of course, Kings Dad, "I am both King and Queen, best of both worlds, but dad works fine" that plus their outfit immediatly made them one of the best characters in the show. I don't think any ending is ever gonna hit me the same way the adventure time one did, but this one came close.
