Today I finished reading the war of the worlds! It's been a pretty good read!
It was a very interesting read in a similar vein to dracula, in the sense that it pioneered and popularised literature tropes that we now take for granted.
Also, there were some moments when the narrator was describing a feeling of dissociation, and it surprised me, but it was probably one of my favourite parts of the novel. For a narrator that we don't learn much about, these few moments felt so intimate and just- real ig? Relatable? Yeah, I grew to like him despite his characterisation being quite bare overall.

it's always funny reading/watching a piece of media that *invented* some of the most well-known tropes we know, like recently i rewatched the first indiana jones movie after a lot of years and i was like "holy shit this is the most stereotypical movie i've ever seen" :DDD

Skwjfjwifhs exactly!!
I read Dracula last year, and I thought the same thing in a few instances lmao
But at the same time, you get to see what ideas stuck with the genre and what didn't!
