It's always more ideal to choose the path that's easy, right? The one where less effort is required and the workload is smaller. But have you ever wondered what the right choice is?
As a parent to two tiny humans, I have been an excellent example of doing what is easier over doing what is right. It's easier to send one tiny human out of a room so they are no longer fighting. It's easier to snap and yell and raise your voice. It's easier to huff and puff and sigh and feel annoyed. But in doing those things, are they the right choices? Is it RIGHT to isolate a tiny human when they can't get along? Is it RIGHT to snap and yell and raise your voice when tiny humans are being so loud you can't even hear yourself think? Is it RIGHT to huff and puff and sigh and feel frustrated? Probably not.
Over the course of the past few weeks as I have travelled down my own journey of self-discovery and change, I have realized I have chosen what's easy over what's right not only in my parenting but also within my fitness, health and many other areas of my life. Let's be honest, it's easier to pick up fast food than it is to spend 30 minutes cooking. It's easier to half-ass an exercise and say you worked out than it is to go at it hard and KNOW that you worked out. It's easier to choose what's easy than it is to make effort, especially when you're already exhausted.
I now have a new list of phrases I'm choosing to live by and it grows each time I post a new blog.
1. I have the time for what's important to me.
2. Determination starts when excuses stop.
3. Choose what's right over what's easy and what's right will become what's easy.
