As a teen into my 30s I was surrounded and enticed by such things and I wasn't even aware of the damage that it can do until I toned it down a bit and stepped outside. For example the luciferian hidden hand who owns the entertainment industry. Nowadays I can watch virtually any popular music video and see blatant symbolism. Revisiting an Ozzy video really kind of through me back in my seat a bit coming from my current perspective. Then the subliminal messaging, the songs getting stuck in your head. Granted I still love metal and all but damn, these days I proceed with caution and stand guard. This is nothing new to me but take this for what it's worth or don't.

alot of the dark imagery in metal is literally because these groups where trying to get christians goat and it worked they're basically the church of satan for the music industry so of course alot of the same imagery is shared between that being said often times the lyrics have double meaning if you think something sounds violent for the sake being violent look for the context if you can't find it theres a possibility the songs not directed at you then again getting over analytical about my music is probably a hang over from when i was a christian my youth pastor thought me to find christian messaging in non christian songs as a way to get my zealot mom to stop yelling at me for listening to "the devils music" so it could just be the way i listen to music
Yup. It's kind of all diluted and there's grey areas regarding the whole thing. Granted I understand some black metal artists drive behind them being against Christianity considering there was a lot of battling between Christians and pagans. Also there's no question about a lot of evil coming from the Catholics with witch burnings and whatnot.
