Hey guys, thought I'd give a quick update. On Wednesday I saw a neurosurgeon for a consult, and got blood drawn for lots of different tests. The consult went pretty well and it was quick; he looked over my MRI results and said he doesn't think my main issues are caused by the Chiari malformation!
This is actually VERY good news; it means that extensive and painful brain surgery is off the table. Phew!!! :D
He thinks that most of my symptoms are actually due to the pituitary adenoma causing hormone imbalances (this would also explain my year+ long lack of periods). This makes a lot of sense, since most of my painful headaches are behind my left eye -- the pituitary gland is situated right behind the eyes.
The blood test results confirmed that there are a LOT of things off! My creatinine is low, my calcium is high, my alkaline phosphatase is WAY high, and my sodium is low! I think there were a few more, but I don't remember off the top of my head lol. But basically yeah, my levels are way screwed o.o Now we wait to see an endocrinologist to find out what to do about it (and potentially get MORE bloodwork done).
I'm just breathing a sigh of relief that they don't have to, yknow, cut open the back of my skull LOL @_@
